Evaluation of Final Storyboard:

Now that the storyboard is finished - i did a final look over it. I am very happy with the images and how they flow all together. My aim in this book was to show the Jewish Lifestyle: the meaning of family and friendship. - and i really think i achieved this. I have a variety of different individual stories put into one. I think the B&W works really well - it shows a similarity within the book and all the tones and textures look great. The text ensures that everyone can hopefully understand the meaning and what is going on as otherwise it may be very confusing. If I were to continue doing this - i would take more portraits of people! However, overall i am very happy with the outcome i have enjoyed this project.

Final Storyboard - writing the text

Now i have finished with all the photos in the storyboard - it is very important in this storybook that there is text to explain the images. A lot of people would have never entered a Jewish household or even know any Jewish people - so a lot of our customs and traditions would be seen as confusing and just very weird. So.. I am going to make an extra effort to go through and explain everything as simply as i can just to ensure people do not get lost.

FINAL STORYBOARD - ANOTHER GALLERY TO GO TO...

Martin Parr created a exhibition at the Barbican called Strange and Familiar which i really want to go and see.

This exhibition is a look on Britain from international photographers, looking at our culture, lifestyle, fashion etc. I think it will be really exciting to see how others see our country - which is different from my project as I am Jewish shooting Jewish culture. However, seeing the greats photograph this country will be really good to see, as i am sure it will improve my documentary photography skills.

FINAL STORYBOARD - CAPTURING THE COMMUNITY

One factor that i really hope to present through my storyboard is the sense of community. The Jewish religion is based on communities always together, looking after each other. I grew up in North West London, where all my friends were Jewish, my friends parents were my parents friends. EVERYONE KNOWS EACHOVER (which is not always the greatest thing) . But it definitely creates a real strong bond within the community. 

At times of celebration, or suffering, for even just one person - everyone will come together. Jewish festivals are a big deal for the jewish community, it is a time all families come together and either celebrate or commemorate a event. Shabbat ( the Jewish sabbath) which takes place every week, sees families join and go to synagogue along with the rest of the community. 

Being brought up in this, definitely has taught me what community and family means, how if you help others - they will help you. I have made friends for life through my little jewish bubble and i really want to show this through my storybook.

Also, the Jewish Museum has constant exhibitions there showing jewish ways of life, and culture through photographs so i want to go see them. 

Plus, i would like to go to exhibitions of collections that may not necessarily show jewish lifestyle but just documenting lifestyles in general.

Nick Danziger: Eleven Women Facing War at the Imperial War Museum. Although this has nothing to do with Jewish Lifestyle, it will help me to see the great documentary photographers work, how they shoot, angles, positions, lightings etc. Plus, i really love war photography.
