The Persian envoy Mirza Mohammad-Reza Qazvini meets with Napolèon I at the Finckenstein Palace on April 27, 1807, where they sign the Treaty of Finckenstein.
by François Mulard.
The treaty would be signed on May 4, 1807, between France and Persia (Iran) as an alliance against their shared enemies, Russia and British influence in India. France agreed to provide military assistance and support Persia’s claims against Russia, while Persia committed to declaring war on Britain, expelling British citizens, and allowing French forces access through its territory toward India. However, the agreement didn’t last long, as France soon made peace with Russia in the Treaty of Tilsit only two months later. After that, Britain also reached its own agreement with Persia, effectively ending the Franco-Persian alliance.
