"This is no longer just about a book. This is about the world! This is our world. We're making it happen! We've made Hogwarts real." [x]
I'm watching Finding Hogwarts again right now and getting so incredibly emotional. I've started crying at least 3 times now because I'm thinking about all the Harry Potter series has always meant to be and how I will always need it in my life and think about these absolutely incredible people who love it like I do. I feel so blessed to have gotten to meet them now and yet I also feel like there's a million things I never told them still because I didn't think of it in that moment because of nerves or trying to say other things or time... So much to say and yet I could never say it all because I could go on forever.
But I've realized it boils down to this: thank you for everything.
John Noe just emailed me :)
So I literally just finished Finding Hogwarts
And I am completly lost for words. It has helped re establish not only my love of the books that shaped who I am but my love of the commuinty and people I have met through Harry. The idea of "finding Hogwarts" to me is not finding a place but a feeling. That feeling you get when you turn the first page, weither it is you first time or your 20th, and seeing "Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were perfectly normal thank you very much." The feeling of finally coming home. And watching this film wasnt like watching someones individual journey, it was through them that I saw my self, saw the commuinty of Harry Potter. 7 completly different people bound together by one book. Much like Harry, Ron, Herimone, Ginny, Neville, and Luna where brought together, through the love and hope of something bigger. Something special.
No I haven't forgotten that I have this blog...
Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything on here, but even longer since I actually wrote more than a few lines. It's not that I haven't wanted to blog, it's just that these past few months have been pretty intense and there's been a lot going on. There is still a lot going on, but things have calmed down slightly and I'm in the mood for writing this week (I wrote my first Wrock song on Sunday night), so here I am.
I watched Finding Hogwarts for the 2nd time tonight and got way too emotional, it's such a beautiful documentary, and even though I've not been quite as involved in the fandom as I know a lot of people have been (I only really discovered Wrock this year, and I haven't yet been to any cons or meetups), it made me so proud to be part of such an amazing community that is so diverse and full of inspirational people, who have created so many amazing things.
There was something really comforting about recognising some of the faces that I saw, because even though they were people that I'd never met or even spoken to, I felt a connection to them because I'd watched their videos on YouTube, listened to their music, and read their blogs etc. This is one of the things that continues to amaze me about the Harry Potter fandom, how you can feel such a strong connection with so many people that you've never met, and how that can make you feel surrounded by good people who understand exactly how you feel. For me Finding Hogwarts really reinforced that feeling because I felt a connection with each and every person who was involved in making it. They're all Harry Potter fans, and I'm a Harry Potter fan, and it's as simple as that.
Of course there were a few pangs of wistfulness at seeing some of the events that I'd missed out on over the years, but I'm not going to dwell on that. Yes I would have loved to have gone to as many of them as possible, and yes it probably would have been amazing, but the fact is that for one reason or another I couldn't, end of story, I can't change that. And that's OK, because it doesn't change the fact that I had the best time growing up with Harry and becoming a part of this fandom. Nothing will ever change that. It was, and still is, the most magical experience; it has made me who I am today and will ALWAYS be a part of me. And I feel blessed because of that.
Anyway, before I go, I just wanted to say that if you're a Harry Potter fan and you don't own the DVD yet, I strongly recommend that you order it here:

And if you're a Wrock fan, check out Let's Lumos, their songs are beautiful and my new favourite is Hogwarts Express, which you can listen to here:

Hey did anybody else order a Finding Hogwarts DVD?
I ordered mine at Leakycon and it has been over 3 weeks since they started shipping and I have yet to receive my copy. I have emailed them multiply times and haven't gotten a reply and was wondering is anyone else having the same problem?
Seeing people I've wanted to meet for years wandering around the graveyard I cut through every day for a year to get to uni and walking down one of the corridors I had lectures in and messing around in the library I used for four years, knowing that I was there & didn't know they were there, is THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING EVER OKAY
