A photo from 2018 and I never posted it! This is Olana, in Greenport, #NewYork, near the city of Hudson. The estate was home to Frederic Edwin Church (1826-1900), one of the major figures in the Hudson River School of landscape painting. The main building was designed by the architect Calvert Vaux working closely with Church. The property was passed along to Church's relatives and later a nephew who was going to put it up for auction (which would lead to development). However after an anti-development campaign, it was purchased by New York State in 1966 and it was opened to the public.
