Line & Shape exercises dealing with abstractions. The shapes were not the most fun exercise, mainly due to being packaged in a way that works for someone very familiar with photoshop, but was mainly frustrating for specifically me as a student. Since the triangles got on my nerves, I said ‘fuck it’ to the rules and did them freehand or with a polygon tool. Not the proper way to finish this exercise. Doing it traditionally would have been easier, but I wanted the freedom of erasing & playing with a value scale that digital gave me.

Starting Your Journey Lesson 4 1/3
Not happy with the way this sketch turned out, but it had to be finished. Hopefully some anatomy class focusing on face/hands will help out.

Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966) - Good fishing - Oil on Masonite. Painted in 1945.
Study by me, no. 3 for Landscape Sketching in Watercolour & Gouache. 7 x 12 cm on Hannemühle Kraft paper, white & black gouache paint from Winsor & Newton. This one was a bit tricky, and the motif was pretty challenging. Parrish's colours are crazy vibrant. The final product doesn't look like it amounted to much. But I learn a lot about composition by breaking the piece up into thirds. Like resizing using grids, but less complicated. Process under the cut.
