Bridal procession on the Hardangerfjord (1848) by Adolph Tidemand and Hans Gude. National Gallery of Norway.
Looking at this painting in person is a sensory treat. The water is rendered crystalline like I could scoop fresh water with my hands and drink it right then and there. And that feeling of crisp air just by looking at the way blue was manipulated in the backdrop. Such masterful use of color to portray light and reflection.
