As soon as Clarke sees the flashing lights, she knows she’s done for. The ‘joyride’ she’d decided to take had been a bad idea, she knew it from the start, but she needed to be reckless, just once, and here she was, making a fool out of herself.

Again.

She pulled the car over slowly, taking care not to hit the curb. The car wasn’t even hers- it was her stupid ex-boyfriends, but she still had the sense of mind to make sure the car got back safely- stupid, freaking kindness (or whatever it was) stopped her from making another rash mistake. She hears the cop behind her slow to a stop. Footsteps led to the car and Clarke groaned inwardly, already dreading the ticket she was bound to get.

"Do you know how fast you were going back there?" A deep voice asks. She looks up, and a man with what she expects is a perennial (is that proper?) smirk. She feels a little woozy and thank God she wasn’t drinking because this could’ve ended up even worse than it was going now.

"Too fast?" She guessed, knowing fully well that was exactly what she did wrong. The cop nodded. She noted the badge he was wearing on his chest- Blake.

"I swear, this isn’t me. None of this is me, I just-"

"-needed to let off some steam?" Officer Blake guessed. Clarke let out a sigh.

"Exactly. It was dumb and reckless of me."

"That’s true. And it was illegal. You were booking at seventy in a fifty zone. That’s reckless driving." Clarke groaned aloud and leaned her head on the steering wheel. 

"I’m sorry, Officer." She calls out, voice muffled by the wheel. To her surprise, she hears the cop chuckle. She looks up, eyes squinted and sees the cop… smiling.

"Listen. I’ve seen it a million times. Vanilla goes and does something chocolate once, screws it up. Luckily, you were on a back road and I’m feeling good tonight. Why don’t we just throw it off as your first offense- I’m assuming this is your first offense- and call it a night?" Clarke nods empathetically. 

"That would be wonderful, Officer-"

"Bellamy." The cop interjects, scribbling something onto his notepad. 

"Bellamy. Thank you. I’m Clarke, by the way."

"Nice to meet you, Clarke." Bellamy says, tipping his hat, Clarke smiles, a real one, this time, and looks down.

"I’m sorry about this, really."

"It’s fine." Bellamy offers, pulling the note from the book with a rip. "But I’m gonna have to give you a ticket."

Instantly, Clarke’s smile disappears. “What?” Bellamy smiles apologetically.

"Just a small one." He pushes the paper under her windshield wiper and nods to Clarke, before walking back to his squad car.

"Wait, are you even going to tell me how much?" Clarke splutters, but Bellamy just shakes his head. 

"You’ll figure it out!" He sends her a grin before getting in the car and driving away, lights bright.

Clarke stares stunned at the road as the car leaves her view. The nerve! She thought Bellamy- Officer Blake- was being nice, maybe even flirting. Geez! Look at what a girl gets for letting her hopes up. Shaking her head, she opens the car door to reach for the paper under the windshield. When she opens it up, she sees it’s not actually a ticket- not at all. There’s a hastily written number and a quick note- call me- in slanted font.

Immediately, Clarke breaks into a wide grin. Maybe her instincts weren’t so bad after all. With that thought, she got back into the car and pulled out her cell phone, punching the digits in. After a few rings, she got the response she was hoping for

"Hello?" The voice is unmistakable.

"Hey. Do you want to go out tonight? Grab a drink?"

There’s about half a second on the other end before the response. 

"Yeah, yeah. I’m off in half an hour."

"Good." Clarke says, her voice catching. "And I live right about this bar, so you won’t even have to drive home."

"Won’t have to drive home? That’s a little quick." Bellamy says, voice lower.

Clarke brings herself to a whisper. “I like to live dangerously.” She brings her voice right back up, though, to clarify- “But I’d like to see you again, tonight.”

Bellamy chuckles. “Well, that doesn’t sound too bad at all.”

Clarke smiles. “No, not at all.”

it's the bEST i'm so bitter that it's only one season

seriously! i have this quote book that i like to put quotes i like in and i keep having to pause the show because i'm like "damn that was a great one." i mean most of the time when i watch shows i am multitasking because that's how i relax but this one i am just so into that i can only focus on it.
