"There was no creature...." -character

How do you know what creatures exist and don't exist? A momen't ago you thought mermaid aren't real, and couple of stories later you bear witness to a mermaid riding a unicorn at Hakaniemi, Helsinki.

"He knew of no creature..." -character

That's more accurate.

Fun thing about writing contemporary Finnish fantasy is giving the characters cute Finnish names like Lempi, and they're a horrible villain.

I don't historical stories. Except for those set in 1990s Finland.

Good luck telling those apart from the alternative 1990s Finland with ice eldritch monsters stories.

Write a story about a shapeshifter/sleep demon getting hit on the head with a curtain pole.

Guess who knocked loose the curtain poll the day after...

Atleast it fell into my hands and I got it back in place.

Had one of those moments where a character threw a curve ball at me.

Jalo, the main character, asked his ghostly lover "what does freedom feel like?"

And Viti answered "Lonely, nothing touches you."

Jalo meant death/becoming a ghost. He was not having a good time in that scene. I need to double check whether it was "nothing" or "no one".

Because Viti can't interact with living beings. She can touch and manipulate objects, but it could be she can't feel touch or difference of texture. She enjoys Jalo wearing textured clothes such as brocade, velvet, or a silk scarf (he has asthma and wears something around his neck most of the time. Wool in deep winter).

But I don't know if Viti can feel the difference between a silk scarf and the warmth of skin, or if she's imagining it.

In (near)hindsight it makes sense I couldn't finish Caress of Wire, Comorbid, or Strange Bones. I needed to write them simultanously to figure out the order (Cor, Caress, and last Strange).

In Strange Jalo refers to the two earlier stories ("she chose this" and "he couldn't join her"), so Strange Bones is the last of the three.

Also Caress is about Jalo accepting Viti as she is. Cor and Strange are about Jalo accepting himself.

When I'm finished with these I can have him go against the powers in the alternative Finland which creatures and magic spilling from other worlds.

And the Reshapers trying drain earth of life.

Sad that he's in love with one. I wonder what side he'll fight on.
