16: favorite platonic relationship

okay so this was a hard one bc there are genuinely a lot of friendships i enjoyed but i think i’m going to go with kurt and rachel (hummelberry) bc they went through so much together and their friendship evolved and changed in so many ways. the fact that they have so much in common but can also balance each other out and depend on each other was really nice.

20:  if there was one thing you could have changed, what would it be?

there is soooo much i would change about this show (cough cough season 4) but to pick one thing that bothers me a lot: i hated unique’s characterization. it would have been one thing to have her experience and overcome realistic transphobia from the other characters around her, but the writers clearly had no idea how to write a trans character, and it comes out in them essentially blending drag and transness when it comes to her words and actions, which is so not cool. transgender women are not just men in drag and it was harmful the way they perpetuated this idea with all the emphasis on her clothes, hair, and makeup as the only time she could really be perceived as unique. the biggest problem i have though, is not only that other characters consistently misgender her and refer to her incorrectly, but she also refers to herself incorrectly or in softened, obviously-written-by-cis-people terms. the actor alex newell is not trans, and it’s clear they didn’t consult many (if any) trans people when writing her character bc her inconsistent flip-flopping on her words mirrors the way that other people treat her, and not the way that she thinks about herself.

sidenote: it also pissed me off when they made coach beiste trans in season 6, from the fact that they kept his chosen name similar to his deadname, to the fact that they couldn’t just handle having a masculine-presenting female character who was comfortable with herself, to the weird ass ways both sue and will were patting themselves on the back for supporting him. but the episode where he officially transitions pisses me off the most bc they randomly bring unique back like a prop just to sing two songs so will could once again pat himself on the back for being so inclusive and trying to show vocal adrenaline the meaning of oppression. it was disgusting bc unique did not get any sort of plot in that episode (not even a “i’m doing better/worse at my new school than at mckinley”), and then disappeared for the rest of the show. the showrunners NEVER cared about unique or any trans person for that matter, and literally wrote her into the show to score wokeness points.

Does anyone else have that one celebrity that you really REALLY like? it's not the "wow you're attractive and funny", it's the "whenever you speak, or smile, it makes my heart melt, and it physicaly pains me that i don't know you and that you will never know i exist". Well, to me that's @nicomirallegro and i cried about this just once in the shower
