I had the weirdest dream in forever.
I was in a building. It was a large, historic (non-existent as far as I know) structure with a railroad track running through it (an old train service building or something?). It housed a bunch of artifacts from early US/Utah history.
I wasn’t alone, my best friend was there with me, as were a bunch of teens and an adult man. Though I knew them all in the dream, I don’t know any of them IRL.
We were all just taking in the environment, the scents of old wood and historic things, when the guy and I wandered outside the building. As we walked along the side of the building (perpendicular to the track) he pointed out a loud roar in the distance. Looking into the horizon, we saw a very long train, completely ablaze, barreling down the track, crashing through derailed cars (how they wound up ahead of the train I don’t know), and a completely unrelated auto that had caught fire from the flying embers careened in front of him as he shoved me out of the way.
We both escaped that debacle and ran inside yelling for our companions to watch out, there was a runaway train. Everybody looked around with confusion until just before the train started entered the large, wooden structure which was packed full of antique wood and fiber displays on two separate levels. Everybody calmly, but urgently, flocked to the artifacts, chasing embers and isolating them to keep the structure and it’s treasures from going up in a blaze.
Simultaneous to all of this, a television was on a far wall with news reports of a train that had gone from Kansas through Colorado, to Utah, ablaze the entire way, setting stuff alight in its wake.
I awoke before there was any resolution, other than managing to keep the structure and its contents from going up in smoke. As far as I know, the train is in California by now.
