Oh! Interesting question hm...

Reagan I think would’ve been pretty damn pleased if it had ended up in Kalli’s body. Kalli has a lot of the benefits of Val’s body with less of the negatives. He’s still big and strong and, while not entirely invincible like Val is, pretty damn resistant to pain and damage. He’s also got something in the way of powers that is a lot easier to access than Val. While she needs spells and rituals and ingredients, Kalli’s power is a physical thing. Reagan would’ve had a great deal of fun investigating how breathing affected the fire and just burning things for the joy of it.

And speaking of breathing, being in Kalli’s body would’ve given Reagan a lot more insight into how it’s own body works, more than Val’s did. Val mentioned that after being in Reagan’s body she knew what “true hunger” felt like but the thing is she still doesn’t. Reagan’s hunger isn’t a physical thing, it’s a mental/magical/metaphysical thing. Val doesn’t need to eat or breath or sleep and neither does Reagan so long as its got souls to eat. Reagan’s body only mimics the function of a human body, but all the energy it gets from eating and breathing and putting its body into sleep mode goes directly into the spell that keeps it alive, not into actual biological cycles. Kalli actually needs to eat and sleep! Being able to compare how a properly works against its own experiences definitely would’ve given Reagan a better understanding of how it works. Kalli also doesn’t have magic like Val and Reagan does and feeling that absence might have helped it work out how to access its own power.

There’s also the fact that while Kalli would’ve been in possession of Reagan’s body he’s not Val. In fact, he’s not a lot of people in the school. He’s shown no interest in how it works, only a fear and mild disgust, he’s never tried to try into its business or work out why it’s so mean. He doesn’t have any of the background knowledge necessary to understand why its wrong or weird or to discover things about it that it doesn’t know or doesn’t want discovered. Definitely one of the better people to be in possession of its body.

There would have been some negatives though, of course. While he’s got an innate understanding of direction that helps navigate the school and he can conceptualize multiple dimensions better than Reagan can, his eyesight is still to short and limited. Better for reading though. He’s also big! He may be resistant to damage but hitting his head on enough doorframes and branches and shelves and lights will cause bruising and headaches and that’s not to mention his horns and wide shoulders. There’s also the fact that Reagan doesn’t know his body the way he does. While Kalli knows what posture and positioning he needs to blend into the background Reagan in his body stands out all the time and while muscle memory probably helps some, it doesn’t have the experience to be delicate in his body. There’s also the joint stiffness and pain, the stomach cramps and indigestion that comes with eating anything that isn’t unseasoned fish and the tail. So while it would be fun for a while, the novelty would definitely wear off.

Kalli, on the other hand, would not have liked Reagan’s body. It’s small and weak and unlike Dinari’s body has no powers or defenses that he can work out how to use and it leaves him feeling extremely vulnerable, especially with the knowledge that an asshole like Reagan is in his own much bigger and much stronger body. Also he doesn’t have enough appendages and 90% of the time an entire limb has to sacrificed to hold his own damn head! Because his head isn’t! attached! to! his! body! There’s no joint pain, which is nice, but instead he has constant headaches from this weird vision, plus the fact that he can’t focus his eyes in the right place and he keeps seeing things he doesn’t want to see and the fact that he can now eat anything he likes without consequence is kind of overshadowed by the fact that he’s constantly tired unless he’s shoving food down his throat. It helps with the anxiety though, that’s for sure.

i know nothing about reagan and kalli’s tv tastes but i do know that kalli is still really blown away by animation. film and photos and screens in general are just !!! holy shit amazing!!! and then u have moving drawings??!? amazing. incredibly. he’d still be convinced he was in a dream but he doesn’t believe he could come up with that shit himself

what's your ideal arc for devyn?

My original plan was to actually have Devyn in the reboot, but there’s something about the criminality of the setting that doesn’t work for her and also Devyn? in New York? unlikely. And unfortunately now I am too attached to new character and reboot Reagan and have learned my lesson about having three characters so. rip.

ANYWAY the plan was to redo her powers so they were more focused around a) gravity manipulation b) energy fluctuation and c) being part of a hivemind split across time and space and dimensions. The plan was to have her in the City to study quantum physics and parallel dimensions at the uni with the end goal of her opening portals to other dimensions to find the other members of her hivemind. To find where she belongs, if u don’t mind me being cheesy for a sec.
