Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Episode 1
tried playing the Remastered and LOL.... so many bugs
Max and Chloe are walking along the train tracks, holding hands. The sunset, the golden hour, has lit them both up. Chloe’s beautiful hair, now long and a beautiful blue beginning to fade more and more to soft green, shimmers in the sunset light. Her tattoo, now covered in the black swirls that opens up to butterflies and flowers, seems almost like an unearthly mark on her arm in this sunset light. Chloe is so beautiful, and she’s hers. Walking with her along the train tracks brings back so many memories.
But they are not on the train tracks like three years ago. Max has forbidden it.
It’s not that she doesn’t like the idea of reliving that memory. Of walking on the tracks, holding hands to keep their balance. Or lying together on the tracks.
My powers might not last Chloe. It’s okay. We will. Forever.
And they had. And they would. Forever.
But Max does not like the idea of Chloe being on any train tracks. She has never been able to totally shake away her fear the universe might try and steal Chloe from her. She still has nightmares where she relives Chloe’s deaths and she wakes up screaming Chloe’s name and shaking her awake, needing to see she is alive and safe and okay. But thankfully, the dreams don’t happen anywhere near as much as they did the first year, or even the second. But they still come to her every now and then. Maybe they will never leave her totally.
Her powers have lasted too. She uses her powers only sparingly now… for little bouts of mischief, like using it to get her and Chloe into pools in the middle of the night, because neither of them is about sharing a pool with strangers. And Max likes knowing she has it, in case she ever needs to protect Chloe or save her again. She needs to use her powers sometimes to make sure they don’t fade away. Because Max always needs to know she can save Chloe from anything the universe might try if it does try. Even if that means she causes another storm... Max and Chloe still carry the pain of the storm, always will... but Max also knows there was no other choice, not really. She’d go back and do it all again, would do it again right now. Because there was no living without Chloe. The truth was, if she had lost Chloe then, or lost her now, she’d find her own roof like Kate to jump from. But she has her power. The universe has never tried to take Chloe again and Max guesses Chloe is just as safe as any person in the world is now. But having her power is a comfort, because she can change fate if she must.
But she’ll never forget her power can stop, like it did with Kate. And yes, she has so many photos of them she could jump into any to get back to her. But maybe one day she’ll wake up and this mysterious power the universe gifted her to save Chloe that day will be gone forever, not just gone for a short time. And so, no risks. She can’t risk Chloe getting caught again in the tracks and experience that panic and terror together. She just can’t. Forever is forever and she’s not taking any risks at their forever.
“We need to capture this moment,” she said suddenly, letting go of Chloe’s hand, which is never easy to do because she always wants to be touching Chloe in some way, to take out her camera. “I can’t stop thinking about how I said to you… my powers might not last Chloe. And you said it’s okay. We will. Forever. And we have. We’re here, together. We have each other, forever. I can’t imagine a world where we aren’t here together, a world where I didn’t choose you.” With the hand not holding her camera, she presses her hand on Chloe’s cheek. “Forever has been amazing so far.” She wants to kiss Chloe, but she waits, looking deep into Chloe’s blue eyes, into the eyes of the girl she loves more than the world itself.
