Apollo and Calliope went from cradling and sobbing over Theo’s dead body to finding him at family dinner.
… WHY are they not suspicious???
Monster hunting is their profession! Isn’t it actually weirder for the dead to legitimately come back to life? Because nine times out of ten, it’s actually a shapeshifter or will-o-the-wisp or some other poser, right?
WHY didn’t they tell their parents the second that “Theo” was out of earshot?! “He” is a danger to their family! There’s no reason not to tell them! There’s the opposite of reasons not to tell them!
And ok fine, you don’t have the slightest suspicion that this “Theo” is actually a monster. “He’s” totally your brother. Fine. But that means you’ve been letting your “beloved brother” suffer all of this time just because you wouldn’t suck it up and confess you were holding your brother’s corpse less than an hour ago! “Theo” is thrashing in pain and crying blood! And you still refuse to say anything!
Especially given that Calliope’s Big Backstory Failure was not recognizing the monster posing as her mom, it makes no sense for Calliope not to consider that this “Theo” is also a monster posing. After that backstory, she should be erring on the side of “everything’s a monster.”
