Week 2 Day 1
Our first lecture.
It wasn’t that bad, it was actually quite fun, it was more of an introduction to what we’ll be doing over the next 12 weeks (make a film and cry) and how to do it to the best of our ability.
RTFMG!!

Once again we needed to be in groups but this time we could choose, although I kinda wish we were assigned groups because I feel less awkward about choosing people. Once we were in our groups we had to assign two roles for which we’d adhere to whilst producing the film; one for pre and another for post-production.
Andrew- Writer/ Cinematographer
Kara- Producer/ Editor
George (me)- Director/ Sound Design
I know I’ve made it very clear I’ve always wanted to be an editor I know very little about sound design which is exactly why I chose to do it, this is the perfect opportunity to learn; after all I’m here to learn, not to show what I already know. (Besides none of the others knew about sound and I already took the Director position so I felt like I had to give up my seat this time).
The film has to be 5 mins long and it has to be of a narrative, it can’t be an experimental film (which I was eternally grateful for). In addition to the film and a screenplay (and a 500 word essay on how both of them went) I also have to create a portfolio for myself; I wonder if my old .wix one is still around.
But before we were to think about the film we have to think about an image; just one single image.
We were tasked with finding an image that tells a story. “Seems easy enough” I thought to myself, for precisely half a seconds before I actually thought about what to choose. Nevertheless I’m sure this is something me and my team will accomplish exceptionally well.
After the lecture I then attended two inductions, on sound and cameras. The sound induction was extremely useful, it was only basic stuff but I never knew about any of it before so I took it all in. The camera induction was also incredibly useful (it goes without saying) and now we’re inducted we can get our hands on these bad boys and start creating some stuff.
Almost two hours after my appt time and all they've done is take my piss, weight, and blood pressure.
I know it’s awful to throw in the towel the second week of classes but this math class is not going to work out for me at all omg

kind of very terrified for tomorrow
Admittedly when my alarm went off this morning, I genuinely believed that I was dreaming. Probably because I didn't actually fall asleep until just after 2 but I'm awake and alive for my Skills for Practice lecture.
More interviewing.. woo, not. I really can't interview people to save my life, it's like I'm not taking it seriously in this lecture because I know the people I'm interviewing. But I guess that's why we have lectures on it, so we can learn how to do it.. that's deep thinking. I've even been really good and copied up the notes for it already so all I'll need to do in reality is listen and note any additional information on the slides I have printed.
I am a good student, aren't I?
My first proper lecture as a social work student today and i'm actually looking forward to getting started. Even though I woke up this morning with a blocked nose and swollen glands, I'm still feeling pretty optimistic about today.
