Before the week finally ends, I'd like to share how grateful I am for the life of this boy. He turned two last Monday, March 13, and proud to say I am still a breastfeeding Nanay. SUPPORTED IS BEST * to celebrate the 5th International Day to Normalize Breastfeeding I am posting feelings portraits & thoughts about my breastfeeding journey (so far! since I am "with child" & due Oct 30th). This first portrait captures our first day of our breastfeeding journey - I set a goal of six months & I planned on weaning at a year, per societal norm. I couldnt even imagine breastfeeding past a year but I breastfed my son for 2 years & 8 months, after talking to others mamas (Wisdom of the Collective Motherhood 🙌 if you got experience, share it mama) doing more researchmaking the decision to do Natural Term Breastfeeding aka breastfeeding for as long as baby & mama decide to. I trusted him & his instincts, as well as myself & my instincts ... the whole process felt comfortable natural & peaceful. Today is day 3 of #BBW16 & we're following gorgeous pics from @blkbfingweek #Repost @blkbfingweek ・・・ This is my #firstlatch with my second-born son. He was born in water after 3 hours of labor. Although, I was an experienced mom by then, in some ways I felt like a novice. This baby's mouth seemed "too small" for my nipple! I'm kind of freaking out right now. This is a picture of my baby Ora's first time breastfeeding. My husband has his arm around me and one of my doulas is in the background. This was almost a year ago (5-19-15) and this is the very first time I've seen the picture. Here is my home birth before it became traumatic. I am so glad my doula was able to take some of the best pics imaginable. Capturing one of THE BEST moments of my entire life. Happiness is an understatement. I love my family so much!
