In the latest episode, mother and midwife, Erin, talks about the discomfort and fear and even pain a laboring person endures before they get to the headspace of, ‘Oh my God, I get to meet my baby ’. ▫️ When the labor is long and hard and you are exhausted, it’s okay for you to no longer look ‘Zen’ during contractions. It doesn’t mean you are not handling labor well or that you’re doing it ‘wrong’. In fact, sometimes the more ‘out of control’ you feel, the closer you are to having your baby. ▫️ In Jungian terms, you are moving from the archetype of maiden to mother and in the process of doing so, sometimes you ‘crack’. Sometimes you need be your child self kicking and screaming and getting frustrated during this transition. ▫️ This is what labor needs from you. You are allowing yourself to be ‘pure’ in processing this profound experience of birthing your child and becoming a mother.
