This is the Fall term registration week at Harvard, and today is the first year move-in day. We’ve sharpened the pencils and ready for our students to come back. When you’re settled in your dorms, come visit us. There are over 70 libraries at Harvard. The Fine Arts Library is located at Littauer Center, 1805 Cambridge Street. We’re open 9am-8pm on Mon-Thurs, and 9am-5pm on Friday this week.

Animation project : Mini me and Worldbuilding
Thursday 21st March 2024
The first three photos are of the frontal view, side profile and rear view of my mini me
Today I took photos of my mini me in front of a green screen using my phone and a ring light to take the photos. I use a light behind my mini me and turn off the main light and just left the ring light on to create shadows
I then uploaded these photos to my OneDrive and downloaded them onto the Desktop of the computer where I then brought the images into photoshop in order to edit them
I brought my mini me image into photoshop and erased the green screen so that my mini me sculpture would have no distractive background
I could then replace the green screen with my background for my animation as the project is about a mini me figure and a building and scenery as the background
The mouths were made out of carboard and will be swapped with each other as each mouth has a certain word associated with it in order to make a sentence that will be in my animation along with the audio files that were recorded of my voice

Movement Project
As today was the last day of my painting elective I decided that I would experiment with putting paint on my socks and dancing on a sheet to see what kind of pattern would turn out
I recorded a video of the whole process so that in the future I could make an animation from this video using using either Adobe Photoshop or Adobe animate or both
I did another painting but with brushes of an Irish dancer using the colours Orangeand brown ( which is made from equal parts of red blue and yellow)
I also took pictures of these paintings I can see how to finish painting looks like and what the colours look like on the page
I used the Winsor and Newton acrylic paints as they are good quality paints and are very vivid colours

As part of my painting elective I did a workshop with Eoin . As part of this painting workshop we were asked to make a tool to paint with .
I chose a coffee whisk that was battery operated so that I could so much control how I wanted my painting to turn out
I used the coffee whisk as an item for my painting as it was an unusual item to use for a painting and I was thinking outside the box for a tool to paint with
Below is a hyperlapse which is a speed up video of me using the battery operated coffee whisk and dipping it into paint and switching it on and it spreads the paint onto the page in a way that looks strange but the painting looks abstract
The first painting is on newsprint wheras the second painting i used a thicker white piece of paper
For the second painting i used just the whisk and stamped it onto the page and dragged the paint across the page using the whisk

Painting Elective
I did drawing of our life model using charcoal and a shadow was created by light shining on him and reflecting off the projector screen
Using the side of the charcoal made the drawing look more like gesture drawings than line drawings
I found it really good to use charcoal but it is very messy but is easier to clean off your hands compared to paint
I liked using charcoal because you can spread it with your fingers to create shadows

Today I sketched drawings of our teacher and other people in my class doing poses using newsprint paper, sharpie pen and stuck the newsprint to a board
My class used the church gallery space to do these drawings as there was a lot of space to hang up drawings afterwards
At first my drawings weren't that good as I have never used sharpie before
The more drawings I did I began to add more detail and the drawings looked more like people than figure drawings
Below are 13 pages of drawings that started off ok but got more detailed as I went along
Below is my favorite drawing and also one of the drawings I disliked out of all of the drawings
The drawing I liked of mine was of Stella with her bandana as i felt the when someone is staanding up it is easier to see the proportions of the person compares to the second drawing where a lad in my class was sitting down and he wasnt sitting on a chair so it was harder to draw
