Is there any fish enthusiasts who can help me figure out what's wrong with my betta?

He's losing his colour around his face and at the base of his fin. I've been doing a lot of research and can't figure it out.

He has a 5 gallon tank (recommended size for bettas), he's fed regularly, he has a tank heater to keep it at the recommended temperature (I have a thermometer to make sure), he's the only one in the tank so I know other fish aren't bothering him. He hasn't lost his appetite and he's not lethargic. He's not even an older fish, I've only had him for a few weeks. The only thing I can see that's wrong is he's losing colour.

I cleaned his tank a few days ago, and now I'm worried I might've did something wrong, but I had made sure that I followed every recommendation and direction given to me.

SUMMER STAYCATION 2017: Cleaned the fish tank! I had these guys for more than 3yrs and with this past year of being so busy, I nearly neglected them. But we made it! Cleaned their fishtank and though they responded with stress, I am proud to say they are still with me.

The fish parent moment when

You go to a friend's house and they know you like fish, so they show you their betta in a 0.5 gallon bowl and it's severely bloated and having swim bladder issues and is stress striping and lethargic, and you have to fight the urge to tell them everything they're doing wrong in fear of losing new friends and just go "If I get you a 5 gallon tank would you move him to it? I promise he'll be happier and you'll have to do water changes less!"

Super random and not wizard101 related but I finally ordered a nice big tank for my two goldfish and I’m super excited to upgrade them. My betta already rule’s her 10 gallon so I’m super exited to move my goldfish from a (too small) tank to a nice large one. FYI: The betta and goldfish are not in the same tank atm for any fish friends of mine.

Also to anyone curious, one of my goldfish only has one eye and low-key a pirate named Ai. As in ai-ai or aye-aye however it’s said “captain.”

I’m pretty sure my cousin asked me to go clubbing tonight but I didn’t respond on time to go because I was too busy buying stuff for my fish and fixing his tank. Sorry cuz, he’s my son 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Update on fins! I got him a heater, a filter, and a new house! Oh and a thermometer so I can see if his water level is healthy! I’m a good fish parent I swear!
