#betta fish problems

The fish parent moment when

You go to a friend's house and they know you like fish, so they show you their betta in a 0.5 gallon bowl and it's severely bloated and having swim bladder issues and is stress striping and lethargic, and you have to fight the urge to tell them everything they're doing wrong in fear of losing new friends and just go "If I get you a 5 gallon tank would you move him to it? I promise he'll be happier and you'll have to do water changes less!"

Mountain Dew has been bent out of shape about life for a few days and it turns out he is mad I trimmed too many plants.

I chucked some stem plants in and he stopped hiding.

Being bitten by a betta is a strange experience

Nimbus is in that awkward stage of marbling where he's got random little specks and streaks of black on him that makes him look dirty

Zygrade's been downgraded to Archimedes old 1.5 gal. Normally I would never do that, but the little dipshit has torn the living shit out of his fins with his frantic swimming and smacking into the sides of his 5 gal. I cannot figure out what the problem is, and at this point the only think I can think of is that he's freaked out trying to defend his new found territory against his reflected image in the glass (perhaps Gamma and Archimedes gave me false hope into the IQ's of betta fish 'cause damn Zygrade is dumb-thankfully for him he's extremely pretty so that makes up for it but good Lord this fish) , so into a smaller plastic tank he goes.

Transfered everything but the filter over (it's too big for the small tank) and gonna keep him in there a week, see if that calms him down. I cant keep popping him into the sick tank and at the rate he's going, boy isn't gonna have fins much longer to swim with.

Meanwhile, Archimedes has a new plant leaf throne. He'll do a few lazy laps and the settle on it and just sit there all "ya, that's right."

So update

I'm finally home. 

Benedict's popeye is bad, but I've started treatment.

All my shrimp and tetras are alive (that's a shocker for some reason).

One of the snails in my terrarium laid even more eggs (which is crazy)

and the rest are fine. (thank god.)

I think my fish has a bacteria infection so I've ordered him treatment. But I just feel like I should have done something sooner. What if the treatment doesn't come in time and he gets worse? I should have done something sooner.
