“There’s no right way to do the wrong thing.” Saw an amazing Patagonia doc very relevant to fisheries and sustainability today. The growing fish hatchery and farm fish industries were developed under the intentions of repopulating overfished salmon species despite making changes to hydro-dams, habitat restoration policies, etc. The results are dwindling salmon populations despite millions of dollars being thrown into fish farms and hatcheries due to genetic regression from wild salmon mating with farmed salmon and wild salmon having to compete with farmed salmon that are not native to the area. The solution? Let wild salmon stay wild- no human manipulation of the environment and the lack of human intervention through these industrial “conservation” efforts has been scientifically and evidentiary supported to protect these important species. #patagonia #documentary #artifishal #fisheries #hatcheries #fishfarms #conservation #sustainability #fishing #ecoconscious #environmentaljustice #environmentalactivism (at San Luis Obispo, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx1QpKaggWH/?igshid=1wjucq8m4oa62
