The swaying balance between warm & cool
Lake Julan is one of my and Lu's favorite places. Unfortunately, it was closed off for several weeks after Hurricane Helene as they cleaned up the mess. We stopped trying to go after a few attempts and chopped it up to another total loss.
This morning, I decided to take Lu to see if the ducks were still here and inspect the ice in the lake. However, I didn't have high hopes for what we were going to find once we got there.
Apart from some fallen trees, it was the same old lake my momma used to take us to when we were little-- the laughing ducks, the ornery geese, the playful squirrels, the squawking crows-- everything was in its normal order. I finally had a chance to breathe as we silently watched the ducks play in the water for a little while.

Really blessed that the winter blizzard was not in Atlanta and South Carolina when we were there. A little beef brisket from Saltwater Cowboys ain't that bad to end the land excursion part of the journey.
