Strawpage doodle request that turned into not a doodle ….
Time taken: 8 hours, 31 minutes
These Bass Fishing Cupcakes are great for a party for anyone who loves fishing. The blue and green batter that is mixed together looks fun and aquatic, and the surprise fish gummy in the middle makes them even better.
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 2 large eggs. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1/2 cup whole milk. Green food coloring. Blue food coloring. 24 fish-shaped gummy candies. Fishing-themed cupcake toppers optional.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a cupcake pan with paper liners. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Divide the batter into two bowls. Add green food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to the other. Mix until you achieve your desired colors. Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of each colored batter into the cupcake liners, creating a marbled effect. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once the cupcakes are completely cool, insert a fish-shaped gummy candy into the center of each cupcake. If desired, top with fishing-themed cupcake toppers. Serve and enjoy your Bass Fishing Cupcakes!
