My fitness journey started when I was 35. In 2014 I decided that if I taught exercise, I had no excuse to not show up. At that time of my life, I couldn't afford a gym membership and so I decided to teach and offer classes at no cost because I knew others had to be in the same position I was. Over the past 11 years I have experienced a lot of changes in my body, my overall health, my mental well-being, and of course my spiritual journey. I remember feeling like I was on top of the world in 2014. I was starting to feel alive physically but also, it was the year I was baptized and my relationship with Christ went from being a believer to being a full blown YES GIRL FOR JESUS. Life throws lots of curveballs at us over the years and while I continued to exercise, I wasn't always working on my mental health or watching how I was fueling my body. Stress takes a toll on us and looking back at pictures, I can see the joy that I had at age 35 disappear. I can see glimpses of muscle tone and while I was thin and appeared to be fit, 38 through 45 were not healthy years of my life. I'm excited to look at the last year of growth as I have taken my focus away from what I see in the mirror and realized that it's a much bigger picture. My spiritual journey has had many ups and downs and twists and turns, but I feel alive and connected to my Savior. The joy that I had lost has returned as I've learned who I am. I now love that girl I see in the mirror, not because of the number on the scale or the size of her jeans or because she has a perfect diet…but because she is taking care of herself well and she is fearfully and wonderfully made. My overall health and wellbeing is solid, l am loved and care for by myself and those I surround myself with. I know 50 will creep up on me and if I keep taking care of myself well, it's nothing to fear and everything to celebrate. I honestly feel like the clock is in reverse and I praise God for restoring me and the years I feel I lost. I can't wait to help others. It's never too late to start. If you woke up today, you have purpose. Don't cut short your calling by simply not taking care of yourself. You never know who's life you're supposed to touch with your story. Let's talk.
