Norma: We don’t have yet an upgrade, downgrade or exchange program. We’re sorry to see you had to go through this issue. l deeply appreciate your time invested working on it. Me: basically months because that how long it takes me to find the three hours to try to reconnect it Me: and this one seems to lose wireless for months after a battery change
#FITBIT ARIA UPGRADE#
Me: Is there an upgrade path to the Aria2? Norma: Would you please confirm the email associated with your Fitbit account? We’re currently experiencing some technical issues and won’t be able to see what might be occurring with your Aria Scale in the system.

That’s the name of the chipset, the IP, and the Mac address, but fails to sync to Fitbit. Me: I have tried a dedicated router with only 802.11b: No Encryption, WEP (password and HEX keys), WPA Personal (AES, TKIP+AES, TKIP), WPA2 Personal (AES) Norma: Thanks for taking the time to contact, l’ll be glad to assist you with the troubles to connect your Aria Scale. Me: it is successfully pulling a DHCP lease Me: I am unable to make it connect to sync with fitbit servers Me: I am on my 3rd Aria scale (v1-software v39) If those of us that bought your v1 product and dealt with all it’s teething and issues aren’t able to get a discount on v2 that uses 802.11g for god sakes, then why would you expect brand loyalty when Withings/Nokia, Anker/Eufy, and others are stepping in with their own products? We don’t give ? ratings here at Pocketables, but I will after my thrid device failure, happily grant the Aria Scale a ? award.Īlso, Multiple times I asked if there was an upgrade path to Aria v2, and was repeatedly told no. I wonder how much inspiration it added to the 2016 nomination of “Dumpster Fire” as Word of the year. Tl dr if you’re looking for a ⚖ to weigh yourself and communicate over wifi, LOOK ELSEWHERE than the Fitbit Aria. There are hundreds, nee thousands of posts about problems with this scale dating back to it’s 2012 release when 802.11b and no encryption were already a VERY bad idea.Īll right, it’s time to throw yourself on the pyre of tech support! You’ve spent 45 minutes pouring over the Fitbit Community Forums. You know the Mac Address of the device, and WOW, it pulls an IP in every configuration mine is “20:F8:5E:C7:7E:20” and ID’s as “GainSpanc77e20”. You finally find a morning when you have 4 hours to dedicate this cause you need to shed some pounds, and data tracking is motivating. I eventually got it on a TrendNet 802.11b unencrypted, but when the batteries died on the Aria, it lost the network connection. So now you have your dedicated router running 802.11b, maybe you have an old WRT54G lying around you’re using (that’s what I did for a while). Also, we’re on version 39 of the firmware, versions 1-38 only supported WEP, and not WEP-password, WEP-Hex. Nope, you need to be a nerd like those of us here and have a dedicated 802.11b router. Well, 802.11b, I can run a mixed b/g/n right? No problem we all say.

and later, and leading Android and Windows devices
#FITBIT ARIA MAC OS X#
To set up for the first time, you’ll need one of the following: Windows XP and later, Mac OS X 10.5 and up, iPhone 4S and later, iPad 3 gen.
Automatic (DHCP) IP setup (static IP configuration not supported).
SyncingĪria syncs automatically and wirelessly through your home wi-fi network. While I'd still recommend the Body+ for most people, Fitbit users should definitely pick up the Aria 2.Aria uses 4 AA batteries – no power cord necessary.
#FITBIT ARIA FULL#
The Aria 2 works seamlessly with the Fitbit app, and if you where a Fitbit fitness tracker, all of that data provides a full picture of your health, much like the data that the Body+ and Nokia Health mate app share with Apple Health does. Like the Body+, the Aria 2 takes multiple measurements: including body weight, BMI, lean mass, and body fat percentage. If you're a die-hard Fitbit fanatic, the Fitbit Aria 2 may still be the right scale for you. The Fitbit Aria 2 is still great for multiplatform families If you choose to do that, the Body+ can give you a weather report to help you better plan your day, including any exercise you may be planning. In a nice final touch, because the Nokia Body+ is a Wi-Fi scale, it can connect to your home Wi-Fi network. Based on your weight and other measurements, the scale will automatically recognize you, so your stats won't get mixed with those of the last person to use the scale. Importantly, you don't need to do anything to tell the Body+ that it's you stepping onto the scale. Just like the Fitbit Aria 2, the Nokia Body+ can track the stats for up to eight individual users, with each person's data synced independently.

Verywell Fit / Joline Buscemi Battery: Good for a year And if you have a Fitbit fitness tracker, you’ll be able to track exercise, too. Using the Fitbit food tracker (available within the app), you’ll be able to watch how many calories you’re taking in. For example, if you set a weight or body fat goal, the app can help you reach it. While the scale itself will only tell you your weight and body fat percentage, you’ll find more features within the Fitbit app. After a week of tracking a new weightlifting routine through our Fitbit Charge 3, we were able to stand on the scale and see a small jump in muscle mass, which is all the encouragement we needed to keep going. We also felt more motivated to reach our workout goals when we had the whole ecosystem of the Fitbit app to encourage us. Because the Fitbit tracker can count steps and record workouts, it’s easy to see how your activity influences the numbers on the scale. Also note that while it isn’t necessary to have a Fitbit tracker, it does enhance the experience of using the app by giving you a fuller view of your fitness activity. You can only use the Fitbit app with the Aria 2-unfortunately, Fitbit does not integrate with Apple’s HealthKit nor most other apps, so keep that in mind. Guests can use the scale without a problem it just won’t sync to the app. The scale will recognize up to eight users based on weight and body composition. The phone needs to have Bluetooth, and you’ll also need Wi-Fi in order to sync the scale with your phone and chart your measurements.
#FITBIT ARIA ANDROID#
First, you’ll need an iPhone 4S or later, iPad 3rd generation or later, or a leading Android or Windows device to connect. This is a smart scale, which means it needs a few more connections than your typical scale. Verywell Fit / Joline Buscemi Compatibility: A smartphone and Wi-Fi are necessary But because the differences were so small, we believe this scale is still precise enough to track long-term changes. In some instances, our weight or fat percentage would be slightly changed even a minute later. One of the most important questions when it comes to a scale: Does it work? When compared to other scales with similar capabilities, the results were always slightly off but never by more than a pound or a percentage point. For example, watching how your weight changes along with your body fat percentage can give you insight into whether you’re gaining muscle or not. By knowing these numbers-and by watching them change-users will be able to track their health more accurately.
#FITBIT ARIA FULL#
You can further break those down to weekly, monthly, yearly, or full progress. There are graphs that track weight trends, lean mass versus fat, body fat percentage, and BMI. Once the information is transmitted to the app, the graphs are easy to understand. We found that this information didn’t always make it to the app right away, even after refreshing several times. Outside of the brand name-and especially if you aren’t already a Fitbit user-the Fitbit Aria 2 smart scale just doesn’t have the features to justify the cost.Īfter weighing yourself, the data is sent to the Fitbit app via Wi-Fi. But unless you use other features of the app, like calorie tracking or if you have a Fitbit activity tracker, the app may look sparse. There, you can track your weight changes through charts, which are equally simple in design and easy to understand. Though the look of the scale is important, you’ll probably find yourself on the app more than you will on the scale. (If it isn’t sure about the identity of a user, it will ask him or her to verify by stepping on the side of the scale corresponding with an X or a checkmark.) The LCD display uses a moving footprint graphic to instruct you on and off the scale, and after displaying your weight and body fat percentage, your chosen icon will appear to show that it’s recognized you as the user. Using the scale is fun, with its semi-interactive user experience. Just don’t drip large amounts of water on it and never completely submerge the scale. It’s designed to work in a humid bathroom environment, so condensation will not damage it. If you want to keep the scale in the bathroom, you can do so without fear of water damage. It is prone to showing dust, however, and you’ll need to wipe it down occasionally to keep it looking clean. We were worried that this material would leave behind footprints and end up looking dirty, but it stayed smudge-free. The top is made of sleek tempered glass, available in either black or white, with a slightly mirrored surface. The Fitbit Aria 2 is an attractive scale you’ll feel okay leaving out in view. Does anyone have the aria fitbit scale and if so is it worth it or is it something I should skip?
My Fam were talking to me before about possibly getting me a graduation present since I got my grades back last week (and I'm going to be graduating with first class honours!! 😄😄) and I was considering getting a Fitbit Aria scales because the Wii Fit is unreliable and my other scales were cheapo ones that thinks 5lb is on it when nothing is. Does anyone have one and would you recommend? What makes them better than other scales? Please and thank you 💕
