I’ve settled for two WIPs, two published ones and one that I’ll probably never publish.
1. “We both know where her heart truly lies, Ross, and that is never going to change. I do not delude myself into believing she might love me. But I hope she may at least grow to like me a little. My feelings for her are true, and I do not ask for a lot in return. A bit of her time and her affection; someone to talk to and share my thoughts with. Perhaps, if she will allow me, in due course, a child of my own blood. If not, Geoffrey Charles shall be my heir and I shall treat him as my own son.” (The Wind and the Sea, non-shippy WIP).
2. Too much had passed between them. The world had turned too fast, drawing them apart as their lives drifted in different directions. When they met again, separated by class and prejudice, they hardly recognised each other, for they had become different persons. (Untitled WIP, George/Elizabeth and hints of George/Ross, not yet published).
3. Very tentatively, Aidan nods. “Yes,” he says upon exhaling a deep breath. “Yes.” He leans his head against Dean’s shoulder. “For better or worse.” And they kiss. (This pain that numbs my heart, Aidan Turner/Dean O’Gorman, published).
4. When Elizabeth came to the nursery in the morning, she found both her husband and her son sound asleep with a smile on their faces, and in their slumber she thought to notice a certain likeness in their profiles as if they were indeed father and son. She smiled, drew the blanket over their shoulders and placed a whispering kiss on their foreheads, deciding to let them sleep for a bit longer. (Family Ghosts, non-shippy, George/Elizabeth implied, published).
5. Out on the open ocean, the small boat was seized by a storm one night. Mighty waves washed across the deck, swallowing what little possessions he had taken along, and it was then that Aidan knew he would not live to see the green isle again. Letting go of the rope he was clinging to he gave himself over to the water, a smile on his lips and his last thoughts with his love as the waves closed above his head. (From an unpublished historical AU that centers around Aidan Turner, and which I wrote basically for myself :) ).
