Five Realms Lords ~
The Pika looked across his rather impromptu fire at his rather impromptu guest. He never expected to find anyone this high on the Mountain, much less a half-frozen desert mouse.
That was how the Universe was sometimes. He would look after his cosmically appointed charge.
He scooped up his new friend and brought him to the base of a large pine. The frigid temperatures were pleasant to the Pika, but the mouse wouldn’t last the night without something to thaw his bones.
After a time in quiet contemplation, the Pika smiled.
“What is your story, little mouse.”
“Toulouse,” the mouse began, barely audible above the crackling fire. He cleared his throat.
“My name is Toulouse."
so I accidentally designed a card and dice game yesterday. it has no name yet but you can play it with a regular deck of cards, minus nines and jacks, and a d20, a d6, and a d4. treat your face cards as a separate suit, since this game is based entirely on suits rather than numbers. in-universe, the suits are picks, stones, lamps, moss, and swords, though on earth the only conversion that matters is face cards being swords. you win by forcing your opponents to empty their hands into your collections of the suits. I'll put how to play under the cut in case anyone wants to try it. let me know how it goes if you do! also if anything doesn't make sense, please please let me know so I can clarify.
how to play Nameless Subran Game:
Deal five cards to each player. Arrange the rest in two rows face down by simply splitting the deck and tipping each half over, kind of. like, spreading the cards in a line slightly. You know when the draw pile falls over sideways yeah do that on purpose because you roll the d20 to see where in the deck you draw from.
Collections are simply solitaire-esque piles of the same suit.
Turn phases progress as such:
1. If you have collections already, roll the d6 to see how many cards from your hand you may add to them. You do not have to play as many as you rolled, however, you may not play more than you rolled. If not, skip and do this phase after the next one.
2. Roll the d20 and count that many cards into the deck. Take the number card you rolled; for example, if you rolled 11, take the eleventh card. If you roll a 20 or a 1, choose any card. If you don't already have a collection of that suit, place it faceup in front of you. You now have a collection of that suit. If you already have a collection, keep it in your hand.
2.5. Re-attempt phase 1 if you had to skip it. If you have already completed phase 1, you do not get to do it again.
3. Play a sword if you have one and want to. If you have a collection of swords already, add it to the collection; if not, you may start one. Declare a target and roll the d4. Your target must now play cards from their hand into your collections up to the number rolled or until they can't because you don't have a collection of one suit or another. This is how swords function whenever they are played, even if you draw one in phase 2 and that card starts your collection of swords.
Your turn is now over. Play proceeds in whichever way around you like. Try not to have an empty hand, because as soon as your hand empties, you're out of the game. The idea is to make other people fill your collections for you and thus empty their hands.
spent some time cleaning up and added her freckles to the first and last frames cuz I found the perfect brush
slowed so yall can see each frame. there's still more work to be done on those awkward in-betweens at the end but I'm pretty happy with it so far!
