Sitting a coffee shop I was on my computer working on homework. Currently doing my Trigonometry project that in my opinion stupid as all hell (I’m totally not projecting on the reader). I let out a frustrated groan as I once again read over the instructions and still having no clue what the teacher wanted me to do. I had my notebook open and flipped through notes hoping that could help me in any way yet got nowhere.
You know what, fuck school. I minimized the tab and I felt an empty feeling wash over, not knowing what to do now. I took a sip of the tea I had forgetting I had it simply due to the fact I was too busy stressing over school. I let out a sigh and closed my eyes trying to lessen my stress.
The sound of ceramic hitting wood caused me to open my eyes. A guy took a seat across from me (I was sitting in a booth). He was handsome I’ll give him that and to be honest I was surprised and confused on why he sat by me when there were many empty seats. My terrible social skills were apparent when my mind went blank, not knowing what I should say. I stared at him from behind my computer screen trying to make out what he wanted. He looked at me for a few seconds before going to stare out the window.

It was my first day of work. Time to put my training to work. I am currently working my evening shift at Griddy's Doughnuts. It wasn't too busy and I liked it like that. The bell rung alerting me of a new customer and a smile made it's way onto my face automatically. In came a kid around my age (16) and he took a seat at the counter.
"Hello, may I take your order?" I asked politely at the handsome young man sitting in front of me.
"Coffee, black," He stated and I felt my smile falter for a second. What a rude guy. I turned around and started to prepare the coffee, humming softly to the tune that sounded throughout the small dinner. I poured the brown liquid into the white ceramic cup and placed it in front of the black haired boy.
"Would that be all?" I asked.

Chapter Nine
"So I'm Going to need you to focus. WHAT do they want?" Diego asked.
"Hazel and cha-cha," Five said.
"Who?" Diego asked.
"You know, I have code names," Luther said.
"Ah, the best of the best," I said.
"Except for us, of course," Five said.
"The best of what?" Luther asked.
"You know, Delores always said she hated when I drink," Five said. "She said it made me surly..."
"Of for fuck sake!" I groaned.
"Hey!" Diego yelled and turned around.
"Hmm? Yeah?" Five said.
"I need you to focus. What do this Hazel and Cha-cha want?" Diego asked.
Give just smirked at him holding onto that stupid ass doll.
"We just want to protect you," Diego said.
"Protect us? You can't protect us. We don't need you to protect us. Do have any idea how many people Five and I have killed?" I said.
"We're the four frickin horseman," Five said. "The Apocalypse is coming," he said before turning his head and throwing up.
"Great. Just great! Let's freaking go, now!" I said walking away.
We had gotten to Diego's place and Luther laid Five down on the bed while Diego put the doll in the chair. I stood by the door leaning on the railing. I wanted to burn the dumbass doll. "Am I jealous of a doll?" I asked myself and shook my head.
"Funny. If I didn't know he was such a prick, if say he looks almost adorable in his sleep," Diego said.
He wasn't wrong. Five was adorable when he slept. Which was rare, he was always doing something. He pretty much ran off coffee.
"Well, don't worry. He'll sober up eventually," Luther said. "Be back to his normal, unpleasant self."
"Yeah, I can't wait that long," Diego said. "I need to find out what his connection is with these lunatics."
"What about you? What do they want with you?" Diego asked.
"To kill us obviously," I snarked.
The owner of the place ended up coming down and telling Diego that his friend Patch called. She needed his help and she had found his brother.
"Klaus," I said when he and Luther looked confused. Diego ended up leaving to go help patch leaving me and Luther with Five.
Five woke up about an hour later. He sat up and groaned. He ran his hands down over his shirt and blazer so smooth it. He stopped and patted his pocket before reaching inside. His head slowly lifted and looked around the room. His eyes landed on me standing in the same spot I had been, up by the door leaning on the railing.
He stated at me with his hand still in his pocket. I knew he was fiddling with the ring. I looked down when Luther sat in front of Five. He asked him what happened and why Hazel and Cha-Cha were after us. Five explained to him that we had gone into the future and it was all burned. That they were here to stop us from fixing it.
"When's It supposed to happen?" Luther asked. "This... Apocalypse."
"Well, I can't give you the exact hour, but... what I could gather, we have four days left," Five said.
"Why didn't you say something sooner?" Luther asked.
"It wouldn't have mattered," Five said.
"Of course it would. We couldn't have banded together and helped you try to stop this thing," Luther said.
I walked down the steps and Five followed my movements with his eyes. "For what it's worth, you already did. You died," I said.
"We die?" Luther said.
I and Five both looked down. "Yeah, horribly," I whispered.
"You we were together. Trying to stop whoever it was that ends the world," Five said.
"Wait how do you know that?" Luther asked.
Five pulled the eye out and showed it to him. "I found this clutched in your hand. You must have ripped it out of their head before you went down," Five said.
"Whose head?" Luther asked.
"We don't know," I said.
"Well, there's a serial number on the back," Luther started.
"Dead end," I told him.
"It's just another hunk of glass," Five said. Luther handed it back to him and he took it back in his pocket.
Diego then just through the door pissed off. Luther stood up and watched as Diego came charging at us. "Piece of shit," he said.
"Do you have any idea what you just did?" He asked and Luther grabbed hold of him before he could reach us.
"Nope let me... get your ape hands off of me!" Diego growled at Luther.
Luther lifted him up off the ground. Five just sat there and watched while I stood beside the bed and rolled my eyes. "I can do this as long as it takes you to calm down," Luther said.
Diego calmed down and Luther let him go. "Now, wanna tell us what you're talking about?" Luther asked.
"Our brother and sister have been pretty busy since they got back,' Diego said looking at us. "They were in the middle of the shoot out at Griddy's, and then at Gimble Brothers, after the guys in masks attacked the Academy, looking for them."
"None of which is your concern," Five said calmly.
"It is now. They just killed my friend," Diego said.
I sighed and looked down. Luther looked over at us "who are they Five? Eight?" He asked.
"They work for our former employer. A woman named The Handler," Five said. I moved and sat on the bed beside him.
"She sent them... to stop us. Then, as soon as Diego's friend got in their way, Well, fair game," I said.
"And bow their my fair game," Diego said. "And I'm gonna see to it they pay."
Diego started to walk back to the stairs "that would be a mistake, Diego," Five said. "They've killed people far more dangerous than you."
"Yeah, we'll see about that," Diego said as he headed out the door.
Luther turned to look down at both Five and I. "Former employer. What's this really about?" He asked. "And don't give me any of this "it's none of your business" crap l, all right?"
"Well, it's a long story," Five said.
Luther looked at him and slowly sat on the chair he had been in before Diego came back. We began to tell him how when we ended up jumping we landed in the apocalypse. How everything was burned and buildings were destroyed and no one was alive. We told him how we ended up getting separated for five years.
Then we told him about The Handler showing up. Explaining why she was there. That the deal was we worked for the commission for 5 years and then once our time was up we could choose anytime date and time we wanted to back to.
"They turned us into the perfect instrument for rehabilitation of the time continuum," Five said. "Or "corrections," as they called them."
"We weren't the only ones. There were others like us. Being out of time, fractured, extracted from lives that they knew," I said.
"They don't know how they got there. But I do know that none of them were as good as us," Five said. "They didn't realize it, but we were biding our time, trying to figure out the right equation so we could get back. If we could just get back, we knew we could stop the apocalypse."
"Save the world," I said.

Chapter Eight
"What the hell are you up to?" Luther asked.
"Why do you care?" I asked.
"You wouldn't understand," Five told him.
"Try me. last I checked I was still the leader of this family," Luther said.
"Oh yeah, great job at that," I said and rolled my eyes.
"Well, last time I checked, we were 28 years older than you," Five said.
"You know what your problem is?" Luther asked.
"You?" I said.
"Really hoping you tell me," Five said.
"You think you're better than us. You always have. Even when we were kids. But the truth is, you're just as messed up as the rest of us. We're all you have. And you know it," Luther said.
"I don't think I'm Vetter than you, number one. I know I am. I've done unimaginable things, things you couldn't even comprehend. We both have," Five said looking him dead in the eye.
"Right," Luther said.
"Just to get back here and save you all," Five told him.
That's when we heard Klaus. "Whoo!"
"Stop!" A man yelled.
Looking back we saw Klaus with a bunch of food in his hands as he ran out of the store. "Stop right now!"
"Hey, bitches!" Kluas yelled.
"You, get back here!"
Klaus ran out into the street and a car hit him. He got back out picking up anything he dropped. " out of the way asshole!" He yelled.
"Now I'm starting to wonder if this was the wisest decision," Five said.
After a while, Luther got out of the van and I move back to the passenger seat. "Holy crap this seat is warm. Luther and his big ape ass," I grumbled to myself.
It had grown dark out and I decided I was hungry and needed a drink. "I'm going to the store do you want anything?" I asked Five.
"No, no I'm good," he said.
"Do you want me to run and get you coffee?" I asked.
"No, Eight, I said I was fine," he said frustrated.
"Don't get bitchy with me," I said and got out of the van.
I walked across the street to the store Klaus had stolen from. I grabbed a water and a snack. I paid then head back to the van. I again heard Five talking. "You know, you don't have to tell me that. I know there are only six days left," he said.
"Is he talking to that damn doll again?!" I thought to myself.
"Yeah, you got a better idea?" He asked.
He scoffed "Okay, then," he said.
I opened the door and looked at him "really? Like really, Five, it's a doll!" I half yelled. I grabbed her by the neck and tossed her in the back climbing onto the seat and slammed the door shut.
"Careful!" Five yelled.
"Screw you!" I yelled back.
"Bigs is coming out of the building," I said pointing at the building.
"There's our guy," he says.
We watched as he stood out in front of the building looking around. A car pulled up and he walked over to it leaning down to talk to the person through the passenger side window. He then put a case in through the window and reviving an envelope.
"What the hell is he up to?" Five questioned.
He walked off down the sidewalk as the car pulled away.
Five grabbed my hand and jumped. We ended up following him all night long into the next morning. We watched as Lance walked across the street to his car with a dog in his arms. He opened the back door and put the dog on the back seat before getting in the driver's side.
Five grabbed my hand and jumped us into the car. He was in the passenger seat while I was in the back with the dog. Bigs closed the door and turned his head getting scared by Five's presence.
"Oh, Jesus," he said.
Five pulled out a knife and healed it to his throat. "First you threaten to put his head through a wall now you hold a knife to his throat. Great job honey," I said.
"Jesus, where'd you come from?" Lance asked.
"Don't talk to her!" Five growled. "One chance. That's all you've got. One chance to tell me exactly what's going on in that lab," he yelled.
"I... I manufacture prosthetic devices for fake patients. I bill the insurance companies and then sell them for cash on the black market," he spilled.
"Including eyeballs?" I asked.
"Yeah, they're my biggest seller," he said. "I mean, they sell likes hotcakes. I... I've got a list, a waiting list probably 20 buyers."
"So the serial number I told you..." Five said.
"Uh, could've already been bought," Bigs said. "Yes, off... off the book."
"I need that list, Lance," Five told him. "Names, and numbers, and I need it now!"
"I don't have it. I mean, not on me. The only copy's in my safe at the lab," Lance said.
"Well, looks like we're going for a ride," I said patting his shoulder and sitting back.
"Well, then you start the car then. Because we're going on a field trip," Five said.
"Okay," Lance said
"Now," Five told him as he took the knife away from his throat.
Lance started the car and drove to the lab. When we got the build was on fire. Five ran towards "Five No!" I yelled and ran after him. The time I stopped beside him there was an explosion the throw us backward. When we land I heard a groan. Looking down a was faced with Five.
"Shit," I said.
"He grabbed hold of me and slowly sat up. I moves away from him and looked at the building. "Well, shit. Now what?" I asked.
We heard sirens and five jumped us to the van so he could get his stuff then we headed to the library. We had gotten liquor as well before we went.
We went upstairs and gathered some books. I was grabbing the last one when I walked back to where Five was. He had Dalores out sitting beside him as he drank and looked through his books. I dropped the books I had down in front of him and leaned down grabbing the bottle. I sat farther away from him more than I wanted to.
I sat down and took a swig of the alcohol. "What's wrong with you? Why are you over there?" Five asked.
I slowly looked at him and just raised my eyebrow before taking another drink and looking away.
"You're so stubborn," he said.
"And you're in love with a damn doll," I mumbled. Which earned me a glare.
He went back to his work as he drank and talked to his damn doll. I sat and played with the ring on my finger.
We had been in the library for hours. Five had passed out and I for up taking my ring off and putting it in his pocket.
"Is he..." I heard a similar voice.
"Drunk as a shrunk. Yup," said and another similar voice.
"Eight?" Luther said.
I turned around and looked at them with the said look. "Just pick him up and let's go please," I said.
I started to walk away while Luther picked Five, Dolares, and the bag up. Diego caught up to me walking beside me "You alright?" He said.
I looked at him as we walked out the door and then around the corner into an ally with Luther behind us. "My husband is in love with a maniqunne. What do you think?" I said.
"Husband?" Luther and Diego said in unison.
"Yes. Well, was my husband. Now he's not I gave the ring back and we never officially got married so I guess it never mattered," I said.
They just stayed silent for a while. "Well, we can't go back to the house," Luther said.
"Why?" I asked.
"It's not secure. Those psychopaths could come back at any moment," he said. I just looked at him in confusion.
"My place is closer," Diego said. "No one will look for them there."
I heard Five belches and then sigh. "If you vomit on me..." Luther said.
"You know what's funny?" Five said. "Aah! I'm going through puberty. Twice," he said.
"Shut up Five," I said.
"Eight. Honey, you're still here," he said.
"Five, shut... the... hell... up," I hissed.
"She's mad at me," he told Luther and I rolled my eyes. "I drank that whole bottle, didn't I?" He asked.
"That's what you do when the world you love goes bye-bye. Poor, it's gone," he says. "What are you guys talkin' about?" He asked.
"Two masked intruders attacked the academy last night," Luther said.
"What?" I asked.
"They came looking for you," Diego said.
