On Eva’s Hair

So this is kind of a wacky post that only exists to make up for a mistake I made. That mistake being that I didn’t ever mention Eva’s hair. Eva’s hair is kinda a big character thing and it changes over the course of the story. I myself am definitely not satisfied with the sketches I did above of her different hairstyles, but they’re serviceable for now.

So, essentially, Eva’s hair starts off very long and flowy and protagonist-y, in a big fancy braid, and then it gets pretty scorched during Fuyuki so she cuts all of it off and it slowly grows back over the singularities, including her dying the tips right before London because she got bored. From now on hopefully I won’t forget to mention her hair in the actual headcanon posts because I originally intended to but it got shoved out of my mind by all the other writing I was doing that wasn’t 100% planned out from the beginning.

What’s up with the little tiara-thingy in that last sketch at the bottom of the page? Sorry, that there’s spoilers.

Prompt Four: Fixing Something

Fandom: Original Fiction Heritas Sphere

Rating: Gen

Characters: Ashura Staruler, Roa Ben-Oldin

Ashura has his sleeves rolled up and a wrench in hand when Roa finds him in the engine room.

”Any luck?” he calls to his prince. Ashura leans back on his heels and shakes his head, shaggy hair flying.

”It’s stuck.” He sounds almost sulky, which is unusual for their usually stoic royal.

Roa enters the room and crouches down to have a look. The bolts are, in fact, quite tightly secured to the under frame of the metal tubing they’re attempting to clean out. Ashura scratches his arms, leaving streaks of grease behind on them. Roa rolls up his own sleeves and sticks his hands underneath to fiddle around.

”Hand me the wrench,” he says. Ashura passes it over. Roa bangs it against the tubing, sending hollow metallic thunks through the room.

”Maybe it’s too much grease,” he decides. He casts around for a rag to wipe the whole area down with, but Ashura apparently doesn’t believe in using anything aside from his own threadbare cloak.

”It’s fine,” he says when he sees Roa’s gaze land dubiously on it. “I don’t care.”

Roa wipes the area down, trying to avoid dirtying the garment excessively, and reapplies the wrench. Next to him, Ashura is almost silent, his breath the only sound in the room.

”Got it!” Roa declares with triumph.

The bolts rattle free and clatter onto the floor. Ashura sighs and begins to pile them to the side for later.

”Want me to stick around?” Roa asks. “In case—“

”No. I’ve got this.”

Ashura hates needing help. Roa gives a little bow and heads for the door. Just as he passes the threshold, he hears his prince mutter: “But thanks.”

”Anytime.” He shoots off a two-fingered salute and walks away with a bounce in his step.
