We raided the parts bin for a Box 1x drivetrain, @pnwcomponents dropper, Force 1 crank, Shimano brakes, Brooks saddle. Carbon 650b wheels. Terravail 47mm slicks, and whatever else looked fun. This man builds all our bikes these days. He’s also point man on our @exile.designs frame bag collab which is inching closer to being ready for prime time. He is happy to report that the full frame bag is “dialed” and he is “stoked” on it, and it fits his entire tent, and that he’s thinking of running his hydration bladders in it at DK. Our 2nd new 2019 color doesn’t have an official name yet but the front runner is “Flaamingo”. If you think you can do better leave a name in the comments. In the mean time here’s the theme: Creamy brown main tubing, dark graphite graphic details, and of course a lovely shade of pink on the seat stays, head badge, and inside of the fork to set it all off and make sure that we’re never accused of making a tame bike. Frames are in paint now. We’re hoping to have some to shoot in a couple of weeks and production frames should land about the first week of April. Introducing Charr-Truse: A 2019 Flaanimal color so good that we could use a bad dad-joke for its name. Dark graphite main tubes are accented with pops of yellow on the rear stays and inner fork. Baby blue head badge and graphics pop against the solid backdrop. Khaki pine trees grace the down tube in keeping with the 4.X design. The stainless bottle opener has gone to a vertical orientation on all sizes for easier access. Dropout bolts are also now stainless steel. Nothing else changes for 2019 because Flaanimal continues to be one of the most versatile steel framesets on the market more than a year after we released 4.0. We’ve got one more new color up our sleeve. We’ll preview it tomorrow. We expect our next batch of Flaanimals to land the first week of April. A sublime interpretation of Belgian cultural cliches layered on top of a crusty waffle, smothered in whipped cream, and topped with berries. Cobbles = waffles. Flanders = Flaanimal. Boom.
