#flag wave

seems like a rite of passage as an emoji creator to make pride flag waving emojis, huh? i decided to make sad and flustered versions as well as positive ones :)

ive got queerplatonic, trans, nonbinary, genderqueer, intersex and aegoromantic ones queued so it you want a different flag or facial expression feel free to send in an ask (or just edit it yourself lol)

another flag, I really don’t like it once its up on the pole, (I deleted about a second of it after this.) restated this one 4 times before I got anything I thought had any merit, deceptively complicated. Learned a lot working on it though, next one will probably just be waving till I get that motion figured out better though.

Not animating enough nowadays between schoolwork and work-work. Flag wave is like musical scales for a lot of effects animation, and its one of those things that you’ll do in an intro to animation class and never think about again. However, there is a lot of mastery that can go into such a simple exercise.

I’ve tried to get myself to do a bunch of flags in the past to try and get better at it, but with other animation work I havn’t had the motivation. but now that I spend all my time doing math and programming maybe I can find that motivation, who knows.

either way, here is a flag, not doing anything too interesting yet, lets see what its doing after 4-5 more of these

4 flags in, sick of them yet? Luckily I’m not, as I intend to do 100 of them. Going to try to spend some of this time  trying to get back into some character stuff too, so maybe Ill roll in some of these 100 flags as cloth animation on people.

Big lesson I learned on this one is that I should leave most of the folds in the cloth to the imagination (or to the tones/shadows when I get to adding those in future cloth/flags)

the right one is what this was like before I removed a bunch of the lines, and it was a mess. I liked how they looked on my previous flags, but I realize now I used them a bit more sparingly than here, more like how I will use tones than for folds like here

very poppy even when I tried to go through and follow through a lot of them. obviously I rushed a bit since some of the lines are definately not inbetweened carefully, however I still like the left one more.

Just gotta keep plodding along, I don’t expect to start getting some that I really like till 10-15 in, thats how it usually goes for animating things
