Long post about the future of the channel:
Student Union will be the last game that I will be putting up on the channel before I retire from creating videos. The channel's growth for several months has frozen, meaning that the kind of content that I'm putting out there nowadays is not getting any new fans out there to become a part of the channel.
Student Union is a horror visual novel that at the very earliest will be released in April 2022, and I want to do my last ever playthrough on a game that I enjoyed a lot playing throughout the demo of.
In the past on the channel, I never looked at numbers as a source of motivation to keep me going, it was all down to ones passion & love with the content that you create. Unfortunately, these without any kind of progress means that the content that I'm leading is now having the same effect that it did beforehand, before the introduction and rise of VTubers indirectly draining all progression that myself and other smaller content creators would make, before people just look to larger content creators (without naming anyone but you could guess who) that have monopolised the audience of rpg maker games & indie game YouTube content. These two factors completely overshadows any potential growth for the channel, and I'm sure that other channels like mine who aren't large or do not want to convert into a VTuber are in a similar boat as myself.
I've been thinking about pursuing voice acting for a while now and want to see what I can also do with myself and my voice. Throughout the years I've come across so many kind & talented people in my fanbase, far more talented that I could ever be, much more willing to learn new things & be patient with what it is that you are pursuing then I could ever muster.
Whether you subscribed today, or at the beginning of the channel or anywhere in between, you have no amount of thank yous that I could give you that would describe how thankful I am for you subscribing to the channel. The livestreams recently on Wednesdays and Saturdays are a lot of fun, though I'm only ever see a huge minority of you watching (15 at the very most with a channel size of 6.2k), and even less of you in the chat. This gives me an indicator that I'm not doing something right, I'm not what you call a comedian, nor do I have the capabilities of performing a video without at some point mucking up a word because of my dyspraxia kicking in, I also don't think highly of myself.
When I see other channels grow, it makes me happy to see that what it is that they are doing is working for them. Simultaneously though, I'm jealous though as I put in a similar amount of passion & love into my work but yield little to no results. This hasn't been a thing that is incredibly recent, the covid pandemic has been a big factor in this due to the huge number of VTubers just spawned out of the blue and becoming instantly famous overnight, simply because they're following a trend and are an overly cutsie anime character. People have commented that this is only a current trend that will die down at some point, I believe that being a VTuber is becoming a new norm, or else you won't be relevant at all.
Thank you so much to each and everyone of you who have watched, liked, commented, subscribed and/or have shared my videos. Having your spare time watching my content means I have done something right, some content creators evolve from being someone you watch because of the kind of game(s) that they cover to being someone you watch because of the content creator who made that content. For the vast majority of people who subscribed I feel that it's only been the former that applies, Purgatory 2 is evident of that as it was at the time of release a really popular rpg maker esque horror game.
My thought process may change down the line, for now though, Student Union in 2022 will very likely be the very last game I cover on the channel ever, I won't delete the channel, there just won't be any new videos uploaded by me.
