#FlashbackMonday - Another #flashbackpic from my #firstcruise on the @carnival cruise🚢 line. Soaking in some sunshine ☀️ listening to #DasEfx first album “DeadSerious” - To quote myself from a song from my NEXT ALBUM 💿 “…then Corporate America began swallowing whole…“ Volume 2 - ‘RespectTheEXTRA’ - “…[i’m] the only hitter there with braids in my hair.” Do i feel out of place? Seems like my family & i are called by #God to be trailblazers in this area - race relations. My father first introduced me to this other world 🌎 (#whiteAmerica) when i was a young teen at #freshmeadowscountryclub in Long Island, NY. It was an exclusive country club where i began learning about the differences between economic classes, riches vs. wealth, race & social status. This continued when i attended @BardCollege where at the time there were approximately 5000-6000 students or so & there were less than 100 💯 #black / #AfricanAmerican students. The racism was ever present & evident almost everywhere on campus. All the non-white students (Asian, Latino, Middle Eastern, international, etc) banded together to form an alliance for support & security. Thru my experiences i saw another side of our America that a lot of ppl from my side of town (#BrooklynNYC) don’t get to see. i realized that there’s a lot of love in the hood. Kats show mega love to one another. Unfortunately for some gangs are family for those who have no mother or father figures or support system in their lives. As #theNotoriousBIG famously said “Spread love it’s the Brooklyn way!!!” Currently my Mom / Madre is facing issues like this. She recently relocated to a retirement village in the suburbs of NJ where she is the only #black / #AfricanAmerican resident. She told me that she likes the community & the ppl, but when she’s in the dining room she feels isolated bc she is the black person. And sadly 😔 the only other black people found in the village or in the community are employees who work there (home health aides, etc). But i think i have a higher calling. #God is working. He’s using my experiences for a bigger & better purpose.
