We didn’t deserve Mario’s Castle Collab 2 (2011)
There are too many tools out there! I was going to work in flashpunk, but then discovered HaxeFlixel, and now I'm being talked into not worrying about the code, and just building games in GameMaker: Studio. Every day, there seems to be another great tool released!

Got a few hours to work on Random Cat tonight and was able to squash a bug with moving platforms I was fighting before my extended break.
When the platform moved down it was making Random Cat bounce on the platform. I solved it by refactoring the way the moving platform interacts with the random cat class so instead of Random Cat moving because he is touching the block, the block now sends messages to random cat to move!
I need to apply these changes to a few of the other interactions between elements such as the enemies. Currently the death of Random Cat or the enemy is handled by the Random Cat class but handling so of this in the enemy itself would be better. That's a job for next week!
Tower Defense test ...
So, I'm looking into Flashpunk, an Actionscript library for making games, and I remarked to a friend that it sounds like one of those "XPunk" subgenres.
And now I have determined that Flashpunk is a genre of sci-fi/fantasy inspired by the technology and imagery of Newgrounds and similar Flash portals. I already have a small scene for a Flashpunk movie.
(Cut to a bunch of people in costumes of Super Mario characters on their computers looking worried)
Scared person: I... I can't believe it... ALL OUR BASE DOES BELONG TO THEM!
(Cut to a leader cradling Cloud's Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII and outrageous sunglasses in the other)
Leader: Then I guess it's...(puts on sunglasses) Peanut Butter Jelly Time.
(Loud trance music starts playing as they run through a corridor)
Hollywood should be begging me to write my genius for them.
February is over and I didn't make a game!
Due to a highly unmotivated last two weeks and just a boring game in general, I didn't finish my February game! I had decided to make a quick game halfway through this month so I could spend the rest of that time with the addition of March to attempt a bigger project. But when you decide to dedicate your time to something you're not really into, you don't really work on it ever. 1 Game a Month has a 3 day grace period for uploads so hopefully I can finish this thing up, it's all coded there is just no art or polish. I can't even post a screenshot because everything that is in there is still from my January game.
Was able to get a little coding done last night so I worked on getting the crushing blocks motion looking good and easy to use in the level editor.
The path points are taken from the level XML file and a motion tween is created using them, so it can be made to drop any distance and speed from the level editor! Next is to get moving platforms working in a similar way!
