The ones listed above are new to me, the orange cream making my brain go brrr with excitement lol. But out of the ones I have tried, their Brownie Batter tea is absolutely sinful and is my absolute favorite along with their Cocoa mint chill tea, and their Nutty Almond Cream tea tastes like oatmeal cookies. <3

It's all loose leaf, so make sure you got a steeper or reusable/disposable tea bags. Also: buying two pouches is cheaper than buying a tin, FYI. ;) You get just as much in a pouch as you do a tin, and did I mention they do samples?!

Trader Joe's Blood Orange Rooibos

Comments: this is the first rooibos i've ever reviewed on this blog, and ohhh boy i may have found a new favorite. i've never thought of myself as a huge rooibos fan, it has a very distinctive flavor (wikipedia describes it as "similar to yerba mate or tobacco," i didn't know those tasted the same but the more you know), that i haven't particularly enjoyed in the past. BUT i went out on a limb and tried a peach rooibos the other night, and was immediately converted. i tried to find it the next day, to no avail, and bought this tea as a substitute. and what a happy accident! this tea is capital D Deee-licious. the flavor is strong, the sweetness is light and delicate, the color is deep red and very enticing. lovely fruity caffeine free afternoon drink. the only reason there's a point taken off is that my local TJs, for some reason, packages the tea bags in single-use plastic bags :/ 10/10 for flavor, 0/10 for sustainability.

PREPARATION: 3 g tea (1 heaping tsp) per 8 oz filtered boiling water; brew 2 minutes

INGREDIENTS: Black tea from South India, passionfruit pieces, marigold blossoms, and natural flavor

LEAF: Dark black leaves highlighted with beautiful petals and small pieces of passionfruit

AROMA: Tart cherries rounded out by soft floral

LIQUOR: Full-bodied sweet cherry but with a slight tartness

Autumn drinks!

it’s autumn, you know what that means? cold days and nice warm drinks to heat you up! here’s an idea i came up with that should be delicious! hot apple tea!

the recipe calls for 1 apple of your choice, 1 tablespoon of sugar, boiling water and a teabag (or 2 if you’re making it for 2 people) you can use any kind of tea really, it’s up to your own taste!

1: cut the apple into eight pieces, put them into a small to medium sized pot.

2: pour a tablespoon of sugar over the apple slices and pour the water into the pot, adjust how much water you use for the amount of cups you want to make.

3: put the pot on the hob, pop a lid on and bring it to the boil, let it boil for about 15-20 minutes, checking on if every now and then to stir and stop it boiling over.

4: once it’s been boiling for a while take it off the heat. pour the water through a strainer or sieve into a jug, you can keep the now stewed apples for later if you’d like, they could go great in a dessert!

5: now just make some tea, put a teabag in your cup and pour the sweet apple water over the bag and let it steep. you shouldn’t need any sugar but can add some if you like it extra sweet.

there you go, a nice apple tea is ready! and you don’t have to make it with just regular old tea either, try it with flavoured teas, i made one using mango/strawberry tea and the addition of the apple water makes for a fantastic combination!

also if you have any apple water left over you can put it in the fridge for a nice cool apple drink in the evening.

People often add lemon to very tannic black teas (dark teas with a strong astringency due to high tannin content).  The citric acid causes a chemical change which reduces the astringency, making the tea a little smoother.

The lemon + black tea pairing is so popular though that many companies sell pre-flavored lemon black teas, which we list in its own dedicated category on our site.

Yankee Candle Apple Cinnamon

Comments: I really don't know what I expected from a Yankee Candle brand tea, but holy fucking sweet batman. I don't think that's a cool joke anymore, but it's the only thing that adequately captures the sheer assault this tea made on my tongue. i was expecting something akin to celestial seasoning's apple cinnamon flavor, but this tastes like you just poured a bunch of sugar into hot water and added a single molecule each of apple and cinnamon. it's not migraine-inducing sweet like glazed lemon loaf, but my god. i honestly wouldn't recommend this tea to anyone, unless you are perhaps a hummingbird.

Mlesna Tea House Sophisticated Fruity Birthday

Comments: I make my triumphant return! i went to Japan for two weeks, and of course enjoyed a lot of tea. most was powdered or loose leaf green tea, and while it was all delicious it didn't really fit the format for this blog. i did however buy quite a bit to bring home, including Mlesna Tea House's intriguingly-titled "sophisticated fruity birthday." mlesna wasn't a brand I had heard of before, and I still do not know very much about them as their website is entirely in Japanese and google translate sucks. so this was a fun mystery tea! After translating the box I was able to find that this is a black tea with pear, orange and lemon, which made me VERY excited as those are The Best Flavors.

unfortunately, this tea is a bit disappointing! to be clear, it's not bad. it tastes like a vaguely fruity black tea, which is perfectly fine, nice even. but you can barely taste the pear, and the flavor is less citrusy and more just the concept of fruit in general. i wouldn't sniff at it if served it somewhere, but i'm a bit disappointed that i spent money on it and brought it home as a souvenir. it does, however, have a delightful little short story that takes up most of the box space, which was very annoying while i was trying to find the ingredients but in retrospect is very charming. the box art is very cute too. cool trappings for a pretty standard tea.
