Title: Actually God🦊🙌✝️
Backstory: You and The Priest are friends, but he does have a certain bone to pick with you.
Send requests if you’d like!😘
My friend made this clip as a tribute to Fleabag and the Priest. Disclaimer: I don’t own Fleabag or the song “Eine Kleine” by Kenshi Yonezu, or the subs (Engsub by indra adryan and Vietsub by Lunuous Trịnh).
Did we ever consider that Fleabag’s real name is “that dessert”?
I am genuinely heartbroken by Fleabag (spoilers)
I mean, the ending is just too much. Fleabag and the Priest were so gorgeous and loving and magnetic. The guilt that they felt over their feelings was painful and heartbreaking and human.
Not only did they understand and see each other in a way that no one else did, but the passion and love that was put into every single kiss, the tenderness that was held between them... the honesty in their physical reactions...
Sex is demonized in so many places and it’s just a human urge. It’s a want to have another person, a want to be seen and held and adored and loved, it’s a bodily function. While some do not want it or are not interested, it is a means of feeling close to someone that you desperately want to be close to.
And the Priest’s “it’ll pass”.... God. I know it will.
One day, they won’t think of each other. One day they won’t hurt. One day she might find someone and he will be so lovingly devoted to God that really, they will be happy.
But that “what if” will always be there.
When he goes to the Quaker meetings, or even just looks at the little Oatmeal guy, he’ll think of her t*ts and laugh.
When she sees a church, she might hesitate to step forward just because she’s nervous she might see him. Hell, she might decide not to get married in a church just in case for some reason he would see that.
I bet neither of them can see a G&T can without being a little bit forlorn.
They might be happy. But in quiet moments, they’ll wonder. The Priest will know that his life would have been fucked if he chose her over God, but would that alternate universe be better? Would he be happier? Would his highs have been higher, even if there were more lows? If she had gone to his church again, even when he said not to, would have have chosen her? If she begged him not to go, would he have stayed? If she told him that she needed him, what would he have done?
They will always have that moment. They’ll always have the perfectness of their ‘what if’.
Maybe they would have broken up, divorced, hated each other, left each other in ruins.
Maybe they would have been happy.
Bonus:
Fleabag Series 2: Episode 1
I just need to talk about one tiny bit in Fleabag for a hot second, from a writing POV. (No, not that bit.)
But this here is why I love this show.
(Spoilers under cut.)
