Beautiful mansion
The basement of the Case-Dvoor Farmhouse at the Dvoor Farmstead in Flemington, NJ. Originally owned by William Penn, the property was sold to Johan Philip Kaes (later Anglicized to Kase and then Kase) in 1738. The stone farmhouse was constructed in 1798 and the land served as farmland for over 200 years. In the 1930s, the Dvoor Bros. Minebrook Stock Farm opened and was run by family members until the 1990s. In 1999, the farmland was preserved and is now maintained by the @hunterdonlandtrust. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #history #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #history #ushistory #americanhistory #explorenj #njspots #jerseycollective #journeythroughjersey #archi_ologie #architecture #hunterdoncountynj #flemington #flemingtonnj #dvoorfarm #hunterdonlandtrust #brickporn #basement #interiorthursdays (at Hunterdon Land Trust) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1KlAQBnfHG/?igshid=1gwen7cey2rr5
Inside the @samuelfleminghouse1756 Museum & Gardens in Flemington, #NewJersey (formerly known as Fleming Castle). It was built by Samuel Fleming around 1756. It was also owned by the Bonnell and Miller families. In 1906, while the Miller family owned the house, the Lowrey Chapter of the DAR renamed the home Fleming Castle. In 1927, the home was deeded to the DAR and they occupied the 1860s addition to the home while the Miller family had life-rights to the older section. In 2005, the Borough of Flemington purchased the property from the DAR and the Friends of Fleming Castle was formed. In 2009, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to change the name to Samuel Fleming House, a more appropriate name for this historic house museum. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #history #archi_ologie #architecture #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #ushistory #americanhistory #explorenj #jerseycollective ##journeythroughjersey #flemington #flemingtonnj #samuelfleminghouse (at Samuel Fleming House Museum & Gardens)
Inside the #cellblock of the historic Hunterdon County Jail, originally built in 1828 and rebuilt in 1925, behind the Courthouse on Main Street in Flemington, #NewJersey. The building contained a warden’s apartment, an office, and accommodations for 30 male and 5 female prisoners. The jail was also used to house Bruno Richard #Hauptmann, who was tried and convicted of the fatal kidnapping of the twenty month old son of Charles and Anne Lindbergh, residents of Hopewell. The jail was used continuously until 1985 until a newer structure was built. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #travelblog #travelblogger #blog #blogger #thisisnj #jerseycollective #njspots #explorenj #igersnj #ushistory #americanhistory #flemingtonnj #flemington #history #hunterdoncountynj #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #jail #lindberghkidnapping #interiorthursdays #throwbackthursday #tbt (at Historic Courthouse)
