Thinking about Farmworld!Phoebe.
chill
Right from the start, Adventure Time loved subverting, parodying and deconstructing tropes from Fantasy and Fairy Tales. In a way, doing a whole sub-plot that is a take-off on the True Love's Kiss trope feels like the most Classic Adventure Time in the whole of 'Fionna and Cake' so far.
Especially as this is all happening as Finn's actual current Love Interest is trying to do anything she can under impossible odds to save him, and his best platonic friends are fighting tirelessly for his life. In a way, these are their own kinds of True Love helping to save the day, aren't they?
It also highlight that, like, while the Mainworld and Pre-Simonification Fionnaworld had similar levels of magic… The Mainworld of Ooo has always been on some level more 'grounded' than the magical version of Fionnaworld, which, as a result of being Prismo's little self-indulgent writing project or maybe some influence of Ice King's childishly romantic subconscious, tend to play these Fairy-Tale Tropes more straightforwardly.
This scene obviously calls to mind Finn and Flame Princess' kiss from 'Burning Low'...
But that was closer to Marceline's whole idea of 'Magic CPR' or the idea that Huntress Wizard finding the cure is equivalent to a True Love's Kiss. Finn giving literally Flame Princess more air is what 'revived' her, rather than some sort of Love Magic.... Although of course, giving her the air from his lungs was in itself an act of love.
But still, the difference remains that Flame Prince was out of that airlocked chamber for like 10 seconds before Fionna kissed him, so it really puts the emphasis more on the act of the kiss, rather than any physical lack of air. Also the whole story surrounding the kiss is a generally a much more straightforward and simple adventure about beating the baddie than the emotionally fraught and intense 'Burning Low'.
Fionna would never be able to return to that fantasy world where she thrived. Even other worlds of magic and wonder have a dash of the Reality-ness that she's struggling against.
Do you smell something burning…

I've always loved this dress and it occurred to me that it would fit on the Bella skirt mesh. Preview uses some nude tops (both regular and bloom cleavage) but you could also pair them with top-only jackets or regular tops. Set as Everyday, Formal, & Outerwear
