Top 5 games of 2017 - Gina’s List

2017 was an amazing year for video games.  On one hand, we had games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Super Mario Odyssey that took tried and true formats like third person action and platforming and polished them to a gleaming shine.  On the other hand, we had bold innovations like Nier Automata’s narrative system or the startling mechanical creativity in What Remains of Edith Finch.

Ugh I cannot stop thinking about our dnd session last Sunday. It was everything you want in a game: awesome story/exposition, big fight, near death experience (for our cleric no less), accidental party split, extreme suspense, cleric's player doing some great RP, leveling up, new character arc???, and random bullshit to diffuse the nonstop tension. God kudos to @floatslikebricks for making such an amazing and immersive experience, seriously.

ShortOneGaming is officially back!

Hello everyone!  You’ve probably figured this out, since we’ve already posted a few episodes, but ShortOneGaming is officially off hiatus.  

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of our supporters who have stuck by us during our “short” break.  We had to stop recording episodes mid-2016 due to a lot of major changes going on in our lives, but it’s your kind words of encouragement that got us back into the swing of things.  We’ve gotten the old crew back together, and you can expect episodes from Jake, Allison, and I - as well as other new and returning guests.  Similarly, look forward to both new and returning series - in addition to new games like Astebreed we should have new episodes of Dragon Age Origins and others on the way.

In conclusion, thank you!  We missed you!

WOOF. Still riding high from a CRAZY session of dnd last night. We have a proper fully-functioning party now, managed to get lots of juicy exposition, and finished the night on a huge fight. Dana still sucks at human interaction, our wizard is still inexplicably looking for a shovel, and our new cleric finally knows what the fuck is going on. Maybe.

What a night.

It is something I was playing with, yes! I had to start the game over (it’s been a long time) and then I got trapped in RWBY hell (blame @dianapocalypse and @arrispect) and then went to a convention (also them) but I am actually free to start playing with this again! I don’t know where it will go, but I’m really glad to hear that you like the idea ;A;
