The latest member of a British art dynasty – her mother is Phyllida Barlow – has created a dance performance to 'The Rite of Spring' that turns into a gallery-sized clay sculpture
I’m interested in Peake’s performative side of her work, as it’s super physical both as individuals and with the people around them. However I think as I going on with this project I’m realising that clay isn’t necessarily the way to go. Although Peake uses it in a more energetic way to normal clay sculpture, to me it still feels like a very heavy medium and too permanent. I think my work needs to be kind of temporary as dance is never a temporary thing.
