I read in the news the scathing review from the United Nations representatives regarding the increasing disparity between the rich and poor in America, the loss of democracy, and the disenfranchisement of those less fortunate. 🔹 Recently I resigned from a “fat camp” in which I was contracted to train a few classes per week. I started working there in early October. I resigned December 6th. I was supposed to be paid every two weeks. That’s 5 payments. I was paid only 3 times. The 3rd payment, issued early November, was denied for insufficient funds, which resulted in a service fee charged to me by my bank. 🔹 I did not resign for non-payment. I simply said I will no longer work for free. These people even asked me to work on Thanksgiving Day. For having the temerity to not work for free they basically hired another trainer and lied that they paid me. 90 days later, I still haven’t been paid. 🔹 Amazingly, Florida (a state I un-affectionately call the Taint of the Union) is one of only 3 states that gives all rights to the employer and none to the employee. In Florida, your boss can fire you because he finds you ugly. Yes technically they can’t fire you over race, gender, religion, but if they do, good luck trying to sue them. It will be a long legal battle unless the company’s reputation is at stake. If you fail to pay a company, state, or government, you are fined, penalized, or even jailed. Yet when those with capital fail to hold up their end of the bargain, the system is designed to protect them. To get paid the money owed to me by this company, I will have to spend money to take them to civil court.
