Flower Edition: Episode 7 ft. Aidan Wu
Chermilyn: Hey beautiful people. I’m your host Chermilyn and you’re listening to: Between the Lines, a podcast that goes beneath the surface. Were you ever in a spot where life was good? But then outta nowhere, your world comes crashing down. Have you ever experienced this? Well, my friend Aidan has. And for the last episode of Flower Edition volume 1, we got Aidan Wu who will be sharing how God has been his personal Rescuer.
Aidan: A few years ago, I came to the States and that was in 2012. It was my 15th year of living. And I came from a city on the other side of the world in South East Asia, Hong Kong. And the life that I had back then was marvelous to say the least. I had great, not only in number, close friends that I loved and still love today. I treated them as my blood brothers. I went to an all boys school and I didn’t have any blood brothers, and so they were mine. I was participating in many different activities: sports, music and academically I was at a decent school, top 3 if not top 5 in the city. The future was bright; the present was enjoyable.
When I came to the States, it was as if everything was destroyed. The life that I knew, that I had, the life that I was going to have, that I thought would be very prosperous in the future with fortune, wealth and happiness was just completely gone. And the loss took me to a point of hopelessness, depression—just not knowing where to go, [wondering] why I’m in this foreign country.
Flower Edition: Episode 6 ft. Ralph Magsalin
Chermilyn: Hey beautiful people! I’m your host Chermilyn and you’re listening to Between the lines, a podcast that goes beneath the surface. These past few weeks have been very heavy with the injustice happening before our eyes. Yet in these times, God is still good and He still provides. The next voice you’ll be hearing is my good friend, Ralph.
Because of the covid-19 pandemic which has sent our world into a state of lockdown, I’ve had time over the past few months to really contemplate my relationship with Jesus. It’s been during this time that I’ve been trying to understand God and the many roles that He plays in my life. But the one role that has astounded me the most, is His role as my Provider.
Ralph: When I open up my Bible to Colossians chapter 3, I read that because Christ died for me, God is able to provide me with a new life and this new life is teeming with endless possibility and opportunity. But it also comes with a great deal of new responsibility. Verse 2 tells me to set my mind on the things that are above and not on the things that are on this earth. And verse 5 tells me to do away all my uncleanliness, my old passions and all of my selfish desires. What these verses tell me, is that to accept this new life, to accept this new privilege, is to accept these new responsibilities.
But it is in verse 8 that I begin to understand the magnitude of these responsibilities. Verse 8 reads: to put away all my anger and wrath and malice and shameful speaking. That it is time to do away with my old person and to put off all of my old doings, because I am being made a new person that is being renewed unto the knowledge after the image of the One that created me. That to accept a new life in Christ is to be made new in His image.
What these verses tell me is that because of this new life, it is time for me to put aside my own pride and prejudice. These verses tell me that when I see injustice, it is my responsibility to speak out, that when I see hatred, I am to respond with love and that when I see pain and suffering in our world, I don’t just turn a blind eye and pretend that it’s not there. That to accept a new life in God, that when I claim God as my Provider, I accept that there is a need to change.
Because when God calls us to a new life, He calls us to a life where there are no Greeks and Jews, there are no circumcised and uncircumcised, there are no barbarians, Scythians, bondmen or freemen, there is only one unified life in Christ. That is what it means for God to be my Provider.
Chermilyn: Just like Ralph, will you choose to accept the life of Christ and its responsibilities? Will you rise up and walk in the newness of life? Join us next week to learn how God rescued one of my friends and how He longs to do that for you too.
Flower Edition: Episode 2 ft. Benjamin Kim
Chermilyn: Hey beautiful people! I’m your host Chermilyn and you’re listening to “Between the Lines” a podcast that goes beneath the surface. Have you ever felt trapped, like a fish in an aquarium? Well, my good friend (Benjamin) Jaemin felt this way. Jaemin is a guy who is unafraid of challenges and highly dependable. He carries this mindset in every aspect of his life, especially when it comes to serving God.
And in today’s episode, he’ll be sharing how God rescued him. The next voice you'll hear is none other than: Jaemin Kim.
Jaemin: People used to call me “Peter” before conversion, because I was a troublemaker. But at some point, I think I’m worse than Peter. Because for me, it’s very hard to believe in miracles and signs. If Jesus actually came and helped me get more fishes, I would still doubt Him. I would still be doubting. I know that God is able to do these things, but when I hear people’s testimonies about miracles or signs, I just cannot believe it. Like it’s so hard for me to actually believe.
Flower Edition: Episode 1 ft. Kenesha Pike
Chermilyn: Hey beautiful people. I’m your host Chermilyn and you’re listening to: Between the Lines, a podcast that goes beneath the surface.
Life has always been filled with thorns. And with this whole pandemic, it feels like a truckload of thorns has been added into my life.
And what so what do you do when you feel like there is no way out of your troubles? When the thorns have damaged your mind, body and soul? When you can’t do anything for yourself, but to call for help.
Is there someone who hears you? Is there someone who will rescue you?
My dear friend, Kenesha is a woman who has the desire to be united with God and has compassion for others.
Kenesha has been in some thorny situations and in the next few moments, she’ll be sharing about how God has been her Rescuer.
