Wedding Update 10.19.2012
My my have I been busy lately - no wonder I feel so tired!!
Ok so I decided in September that I wanted to get all of my wedding planning done by Christmas (Thanksgiving is even more preferable). Of course this excludes things that have to be done closer to the wedding itself (invitations, paperwork, hair trials, things of that nature). So off I went into the mysterious and magical land of wedding planning!
I have successfully been able to tackle almost all of the major things now!
1. Cake - um, easily the best "project" to work on for the wedding - free delicious cake tasting, um yeah, it was heavenly! Obviously this has been Roberto's favorite part of the planning process haha.
2. DJ - this was a little more annoying for us! We are really into dancing and music and it was important for us to find someone who was truly going to listen to us and play exactly what we want. We found one guy we loved and I told him I had to talk to Bobby before giving him a decision, and a few days later when I asked him about the contract he told me he had already booked a different couple on the same day!! Like... to an extent, understandable, but seriously, it wasn't like I made him wait forever; and he should've said something soon to me. So... obviously he was not the DJ for us! But we are more than happy with the one we are using now. He sounds much nicer on the phone and super accommodating!
3. Flowers - ......oy. This has without a doubt been THE most stressful thing so far. I have not stressed about anything hardly at all with this wedding and fucking flowers did me in. So my entire order has now changed because flowers (something that DIES keep in mind) are so over priced! Now... you all know me... or well, you know my taste from my blog at least, so you know I am not one to succomb to anything and I have a specific style; so by no means has the beauty been compromised. I actually like our new ideas for center-pieces better than the original thought! There's beauty in madness.
A deep breath and an eye focused on the prize have kept me afloat through the flower debachel. Now onto confirming transportation and a rehearsal dinner locale as our next steps!
By the way, having an excuse to try out different nice restaurants has put a lovely boost into our dating regimen! We are trying out another one this weekend! By trying to make this fun for Bobby and I has really paid off! And leaning on our friends and family when we want a second opinion or advice has proved to be great so far!
This Saturday and next Saturday we have Pre-Cana (Catholic pre-marriage class) and we've also started our meetings with our priest. We have a lot of Jesus to cover over the next few months apparently! So Bobby and I and our great side-kick Humor will be going through the religious 'movements' together!
So besides all these bigger things I've been steadily trying to get smaller stuff done in the meantime like making decorations, buying my garter, other gifts/tokens of appreciation, etc. for the day of!
Slow and Steady wins the race! I'm so glad we took some extra time to get this all done, because I would not have been able to in less time with how busy our work lives are. This has made the process so much more enjoyable for everyone involved I think! (I hope haha!!) I've really got to hand it to my bridal party and family, they've been really great so far! I can't wait to have some more opportunities to see more of them soon hopefully!
Thanks for listening :)
Much Love,
~ KMW
