“Heeeey, Channie~” she grinned, leaning over his chair.
Chan sighed with a smile, his head dropping and closing his laptop. He turned in his seat to raise an eyebrow at his best friend, “What is it, Y/N?”
“I need your advice. You give such good advice.” She plopped back onto the sofa in his studio, leaning forward with big eyes.
‘Oh she definitely wants something. She only pouts like that when she wants something.’
“Alright, talk to me. What’s going on?”
He reached for his water, taking a sip while he waited expectantly. Y/N fiddled with her fingers for a moment.
“Can you give me advice on how to make a guy like me?”
Chan choked.
“I’m sorry, what?” He coughed, “Can you repeat that?”
Y/N huffed, “Nevermind, it’s stupid. I’ll just flirt like I normally would.” She went to stand, but Chan grabbed her wrist and pulled her to sit back onto the couch.
“Why are you asking me this?” Chan sighed, “You’ve never had a problem flirting and getting the guys you want before.”
Y/N looked away, refusing to make eye contact. “Yeah, but this guy’s different. We’re friends, and we goof around all the time. I don’t want him to think I’m joking or something…”
‘Oh… OH… Shit.’
Chan cleared his throat, standing and pacing for a minute. “Um, Y/N, this- this guy you like… You said you’re friends? It’s not… It’s not me is it?”
“What? No! You’re my best friend, Channie,” Y/N laughed. “It’s… um, it’s Changbin.” She finally whispered.
“Oh thank god,” Chan chuckled awkwardly. “Well, in that case… Here’s what I suggest…”
~
A few weeks later, Y/N found herself popping a fourth bag of popcorn while the raucous sounds of the boys came from her living room.
“Need any help?” Chan asked, managing to carry four glasses into the kitchen to refill for their movie night.
She smiled over at him, “I’m just about done gathering the snacks if you want to help carry the bowls out there.”
“Sure, just let me take these back out.”
Chan grinned, his dimples showing, which in turn made Y/N smile. She was always a sucker for his dimples. But something about it recently had her stomach knotting.
She tried not to think too much about it as Chan returned and came over to grab the bowls. It’s not that her kitchen was particularly small, but she was blocking the way, and Chan had always been too sweet to her to tell her to move. Chan would never consider bumping her out of the way. Instead he just stood behind her, a little too close, to reach around and grab the snacks.
This shouldn’t have been a problem, a month ago it definitely wouldn’t have been. But Y/N had been spending all of her free time hanging around Chan recently; considering her crush is their mutual friend. So why was her heart racing right now? Why was the feeling of his hard muscles making her mouth water? Why was she holding her breath so she didn’t notice how fucking good Chan always seemed to smell?
‘It’s just because we’ve been around each other a lot, and you’re lonely. Get your shit together, Y/N.’
When Chan stepped away, which felt like a lot longer than it really was, she let out an exhale to regain her composure. She would never admit it, but maybe she wasn’t as unaffected by her best friend as she’d like to believe.
But she liked Changbin. Changbin is who she is trying to gain the courage to ask out. Not Chan.
~
Why she kept putting herself in these situations, Y/N couldn’t understand. Why she agreed to come to the gym with the boys, she could not fathom. She must’ve been out of her mind. Completely lost it.
Or Changbin had bragged about how defined his arms were getting and teased that she should come see. And that was not an opportunity she was going to pass on.
It didn’t help when Chan, in one of his muscle tees, flexed his own biceps and nudged her. Smiling with those sinful dimples and agreeing with Changbin that she should join them that afternoon.
So now she sat. watching three of her friends—one of which was her crush and the other she couldn’t explain—lift weights.
If someone had called her name right now, they would’ve gotten no response. Y/N was too distracted, trying to keep herself from drooling and keep her thoughts at least PG-13.
But with the way that his muscles rippled… Veins popping out down his bicep and forearm… The thought of Chan’s hand wrapping around her neck.
‘Wait! No. Changbin. Changbin’s hand. Definitely.’
She shook her head, deciding that maybe she should stop ogling her friends and stared mindlessly at her phone instead.

“So are you gonna keep following him around like a puppy or are you gonna ask him out?” Jisung asked, leaning casually in the doorway to the dance studio while Y/N stretched.
Y/N turned with a furrowed brow to regard her friend. She was annoyed, to say the least, that Chan didn’t keep her crush on Changbin a secret, but she also knew that she hadn’t exactly been inconspicuous with it.
“I don’t want to ask him out until I know for sure he likes me as more than a friend.” She huffed, turning back to finish her stretches. “He can be so oblivious. I’ve been trying to get his attention for months now,” Y/N added with a pout.
Jisung walked into the studio, dropping to the floor in front of her and helping her stretch. “He’s liked you since he met you. Just ask him out.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because, when you two first met, he came back to the dorm with the stupidest smile I’ve ever seen. Chan wouldn’t stop talking about you for weeks.”
Y/N pulled back abruptly, “Wait, Chan?!”
“Yeah, who did you…” Jisung’s eyes widened in realization, and he jumped up to rush towards the door. Calling back, “Forget I said anything!”
Shortly after, Jisung burst into the production studio, causing Changbin and Chan’s heads to whip up.
“Ah! What the hell, man! You scared me!” Changbin whined.
Jisung pointed at Chan, “What the fuck are you doing?”
“Me? Wha– What are you talking about? You’re the one who burst in here.” Chan defended.
“Why are you helping Y/N ask out Changbin?!”
Changbin’s eyes widened, cheeks puffed, “Duuuude! Why would you do that?!”
“Because she likes you!”
“Yeah, but you like her!” Changbin countered, standing to join Jisung.
Chan stood, running his hand through his hair and paced away. “Yeah, well no! I mean… I used to. But then she was never into me, and I was happy just being friends. And then she asked me for help. I just wanna see her happy. And if helping her ask you out makes her happy, then I’ll do that for her.”
“I’m not gonna do that to you, bro.” Changbin shook his head, returning to his seat with a pat to Chan’s shoulder.
“Well, what am I supposed to do? I don’t wanna fuck up our friendship. That feels selfish.” Chan turned helplessly to Jisung.
Jisung sighed, placing his hands on Chan’s shoulders. “Be selfish for once, hyung.”
“I can’t. She doesn’t feel that way about me.” Chan turns, frustrated.
A second later he feels a hand on his shoulder again. “Do I get a say in it?”
Chan turned as Y/N stepped up, brushing her nose against his lightly. A nudge away from being a kiss. “What if I want you to be selfish? What would you–”
“Go out with me.”
She smiled, looking down briefly in amused excitement. An “Okay, Channie,” softly sighed onto his lips before Y/N pressed forward to capture his lips with her own.
