Soft & Fluffy Kim Seokjin
A 1150 word love story
You met on a Tuesday night.
Casual conversation in the grocery store as your hands met reaching for a Lemon.
"It looks like we're both after the same thing." He smiled and handed you the ripe piece.
"You know, most people make the rookie mistake of looking for the most perfect one they can find, but I see you know what you're doing." You let your eyes make contact. "Did your girlfriend teach you that?"
"Experience has taught me," he went back to searching the pile, "that perfect on the outside doesn't always mean it's good on the inside."
He kept his focus on the fruits. "And no, no girlfriend." His plush lips grew into a grin. "Does your boyfriend cook?"
You only needed one, but you'd stand here and buy a whole bag just to keep talking to him.
"That's Interesting. I've found the same principle usually applies to people." You shrugged nonchalantly. "You're easily one of the most handsome men I've ever laid eyes on, what are you like on the inside?"
Intrigued by the flirtation he cocked a brow, "I guess that's something you wont know unless you take a chance."
Holding up your pick triumphantly you set it into his hand. "I think I'm pretty good at knowing a good one when I see one." Your fingers lingered on his, "And no, no boyfriend"
You didn't count dates anymore. Are they even called dates when you just spend every day with someone? If you had, you'd suppose this would be the 5th, maybe 6th? As with anything good, time flew with Jin.
Being with him was easy, he was a romantic and he had a wonderful sense of humour. Your dates often started back in the produce section with him taking great pride in showing off just how many foods he could cook you that contained fresh lemons.
Full, happy and content, you were supposed to be watching a movie but instead you kissed. His lips were soft and his tongue was needy; he was an irresistibly good kisser.
He made you feel safe, secure and maybe too a little too relaxed since you'd drifted off in his arms.
He shifted slowly underneath you to click the TV off. Waking up embarrassed, you noticed the wet spot on his shirt. "I'm so sorry, I can't believe I drooled on you."
He leaned in to kiss your forehead sweetly. "Its a good thing you're cute. Did you have a good nap?"
Groggy and disoriented you checked the time on your phone and sighed "I should probably get going, it's pretty late."
The leather groaned as he rolled on top of you. His hands taking station on your cheeks as his mouth delicately found your waiting lips.
"You could stay if you want." His words were quiet and shy. "I know we haven't really talked about taking the next step but…" he was flustered.
"Jin," you were serious. "You should just propose already. I'd say yes."
He smiled, "I'm sure I will one day. Maybe I could make love to you first?"
Friends and family mingled in the backyard. A beautiful cloudless day on a perfectly manicured lawn. Kids played and Aunties laughed loudly at their shamelessly shared gossip.
"I'm sorry my family is crazy."
"I love that they're crazy, it's more fun that way."
He nibbled your ear. "You look so pretty today, I can't wait to get you back to your place."
You pushed his shoulder. "Time and place Jin. I'm going to go help clean up so we can go."
He opened the passenger door for you and snuck another kiss.
"I think my parents really like you."
"God hope so, I'm really in love with their son."
"My Mom asked me why I haven't proposed yet. I think she really wants grandchildren."
His hand held yours as he drove. He kept nervously glancing at you, trying to find the courage to speak.
"I want to show you something."
He pulled up in front of a gorgeous house that was seemingly carved into the surrounding landscape. A for sale sign swung gently in the breeze like it was waving its welcome.
Turning down the music, his lips parted to speak but his words wouldn't come out. He stared at you in complete adoration, his intentions radiating like sunbeams.
"Jin." You wanted to take the pressure off of him. "You should just propose already, I'd say yes.
He giggled in relief. "I'm sure I will one day. Maybe you could move in with me first?"
It had been a long day. Managing to finally get the last boxes put away you stopped to take in the sunset glowing through the trees. Looking out the back picture window you stared in awe at the calming view from your new home.
His footsteps on the hardwood gave away his presence as the click of the stereo's on switch filled the room's space with soft music.
He stood behind you and wrapped you in his arms. "It finally feels like I found my home."
You turned to face him, pulling him in close with one arm around his waist and the other hand playing with the back of his hair. You smiled, content, as you slowly swayed and began to dance with him in your living room.
"Do you know how much I love you?" He kissed your forehead.
"Maybe you should just propose already…"
He placed his finger delicately over your lips to stop the familiar sentence from escaping.
Pulling out a lemon yellow diamond he dropped to one knee. "And if I did what would you say?"
The happy tears rolled down your cheeks.
"I'd say yes."
It was the end of the night and you'd just said your goodbyes to the last of the guests.
It had been the perfect day of bright sunshine, yellow wild flowers and lemon chiffon wedding cake.
He pulled you out to the center of the dance floor and spun you into his arms. "One more dance with my wife."
"Then what? What happens next for us Jin?"
"Whatever you want my love, name it it's yours."
You placed your hand over his heart. "Maybe you could put a baby in me?"
He smiled, happy that you'd found the next thing to ask him for.
After one more twirl he picked you up bridal style and began carrying you towards the room.
"I'm sure I will one day. Maybe we could practice a bit first?"
