✨hot take / rant of the day✨
<not a medical professional, not medical advice>
so many people are talking about how they have all these new mystery health problems and their environmental allergies are suddenly so much worse, or now they’re having trouble breathing, or autonomic nervous system issues have come out of nowhere, or cardiovascular / clotting issues have popped up randomly, or they have new lung nodules but they’ve never smoked -
It’s long covid.
and / or a new autoimmune issue because of Covid / long covid. The world has.. “moved on” from COVID19, but medical experts are still learning about the long term effects.
The number of POTS diagnoses has increased significantly since Covid. don’t take my word for it!!! <— linked an article here to use as a starting point. never trust anyone on the internet, not even me! (plus, looking things up just guarantees you’ll learn something new 👑)
let’s check back in in 2036, we’ll see if I’m right.
Setting a reminder… now. See ya then ❤️🔥
ALSO, if you’re experiencing this I am SO sorry, genuinely. I know how difficult it is to deal with a lot of symptoms and have no real explanation or answers or treatment (I live with PSC+IBD, EDS+POTS, diagnosed as a teen, it’s been a time..). Long COVID needs a lot more research, and unfortunately research funding has been drastically cut - across the board over the past year. You deserve better. You deserve answers, treatment, assistance and support, no matter what illness you’re dealing with. Being ill is not your fault. Hang in there. Fight for yourself, you are worth it.
<also I think a lot of people are blaming mold, and while there are harmful types of molds out there, most molds aren’t going to hurt you, and statistically speaking they are actually one of the less likely culprits for your symptoms (nothing is 100% tho!).. it’s just mathematically more likely to be long covid, or something other than mold. You could be the exception! You know yourself best- find doctors who make you feel heard and can help you and make you feel better>
Talk to your doctor / trusted medical professional if you have questions! 💜 I’m just making a prediction here and throwing it out into the void.
xoxo
