I wrote this song in June 2025, after seeing part of I-40 had flooded and collapsed again. When I was a kid, my family and I moved from Tennessee to Virginia, and frequently traveled through that part of Appalachia to see family. It will always hold a special place in my heart. This song transformed into a piece about HR1 (the bill), and the importance of taking care of your fellow humans - your neighbors.

The hymn is Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, which I sang frequently in church growing up. The hymn is typically set to the tune of Nettleton, and was actually in the last piece of classical music I performed as a solo violinist, the Second Violin Sonata by Charles Ives. Ives does not finish the melody in this piece, so it felt very fitting to finish the melody here - in my return to music as a solo artist.

TLDR: I got really sick for 3 years bc of a rare complication of my liver disease, survived, and am living my life to the fullest - follow your dreams, life is short. Happy Disability Pride month 💖
