Howdy! Hope you’re able to see a doctor soon about your wrist ❤️🩹
In the meantime, could you give more details about how Falco’s Titanism impacts him after his infection in your AU? What are his symptoms? How does his thinking change? How does he start viewing other people differently, and which people does he view differently? Does his parasite drive him to be more attached to certain people? If so, who? Since Porco is the host of his source parasite, how does he feel about Porco trying to parent him more? How does Colt react to his little brother suddenly becoming a Titan way younger than is recommended for his health?
How do people react to his Titan form? Like Gabi, the number 2 Titan fan (after Hange of course), for example? I assume that the Marleyan researchers are going feral after seeing it lmao, since a Titan that’s capable of powered flight is probably either extremely rare in the history of Titans or even completely unique to Falco at this point in time. I mean, in canon there were only ever two- Falco himself, and whichever past Jaw Titan gave him memories of flying. And how does Falco feel about it? I personally gave him bird autism in my AU, so my Falco would be fucking THRILLED to be able to fly lmao. But you don’t need to have a fascination with birds to love flying!
And how does the military react to it? Are they more understanding since they’re also pretty much all Titan-Shifters, and wait until he’s older to start really utilizing his Titan for war, or do they get really excited and throw him right into the front lines to make full use of it?
Please take your time in answering, and don’t push yourself too far with the pain. Also, in my experience speech to text programs have been extremely helpful with my hand pain if this becomes a long-term thing! But if you go with that, do NOT get voicetyper. It’s quite literally impossible to cancel your subscription once you get it- you have to do shit with the bank your card is attached to in order to stop paying them. I use dragon dictate instead, it’s really good! Still struggles sometimes like all speech to text programs, but it’s pretty robust! I haven’t used it for languages other than English though, so I can’t confirm its usefulness for all languages.
Thank you! I actually was able to go to the doctor recently, and had my wrist x-rayed. I'm still waiting on the results, and need an approval so I can have an MRI, but she gave me an ace bandage to wrap my wrist with. The wrap has helped a lot!
Also, thank you so much for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into Dragon Dictate. ^^ I don't really think the pain is going to go away on it's own, as it's been going on for over a week without improvement. Well, no improvement until I put the wrap on lol. The wrap is definitely helping, but I do think a dictation program would be good long term. Especially since the pain does like to flare up sometimes. 🫠
A big symptom he struggles a lot with is the aggression. Jaw titans are a particularly aggressive breed, and his parasite's aggression bleeds over his calmer nature often. He frequently finds himself blowing up at others, particularly Gabi, only to feel really upset and remorseful about it later. Colt does end up taking Falco to therapy to control this, and with time he gets better.
His other major symptom is bitting and a constant need to chew on things. He basically develops severe bruxism. But this symptom is pretty easily managed using specialized teething toys designed for titan shifters. The teething toys also help alleviate his aggression!
He already had a huge crush on Gabi, but the parasite just intensifies those feelings. He does unconsciously try to nuzzle her on several occasions. 🤭 He also starts to think of her as his mate, only to try to push back on his own thoughts. lol According to the parasite they are in a relationship lmfao. >3 He also ends up sharing a lot of his food with her. Any of the best bits go right to her.
He also becomes very attached to Porco and has to consciously fight back against his parasite trying to convince him that Porco is his father. Porco does not help with his insistence on trying to care for and nurture Falco. lmao
He also surprisingly feels a strong increase in his feelings of affection towards his older brother Colt. Falco feels a strong need to look after him. He feelings are still purely platonic, but he does feel a much stronger bond with him.
Overall, he experiences a strong desire to bond with, share the best parts of his food with, and share his scent with those he cares about. Another thing he does is rub up against his things, he feels a subconscious need to scent his belongings to indicate that they do indeed belong to him! He starts to think of both his friends and family as his pack and he needs to look after his pack.
Aside from feeling more attached/protective of his pack, he also begins to feel more wary of strangers. Anyone outside of the pack is a potential threat, and they need to prove they mean no harm before they can approach him. However, despite his wariness, he does feel more compassionate towards the less fortunate. Infected!Falco would be more likely to offer food to someone who's visibly hungry, or hand over his umbrella to keep someone out of the rain.
On a funnier note, he has to try really hard to avoid climbing up trees to gobble up the delicious eggs...
The more conscious part of him pushes back against Porco trying to parent him, but the parasite keeps pushing him to accept it. Falco slowly, but sure gives into this. Porco genuinely means him no harm, and Falco finds his presence extremely comforting.
Eventually Falco just straight up lets Porco carry him around like a kitten. lol And he'll just straight up purr the whole time.
Colt is extremely worried about Falco. There isn't too much data on how the parasite affects the developing brain, but from what data there is, prognosis is grim. From what Marley currently knows, being infected at such a young age can cause the parasite to negatively affect a lot of emotion and impulse control. It can also cause severe mental illness, delusions, and other nasty things.
Of course, this is not guaranteed. It's entirely possible that Falco could turn out completely fine. 🤭
So Colt keeps an eye out and regularly checks in with Falco on how he's feeling. He goes out of his way to get Falco therapy when his aggression spikes and keeps one of Falco's teething toys on hand at all times.
Falco feels super embarrassed about this, but also really appreciates Colt looking after him. ❤️
Gabi is freaking out and running around(positive). She's never been more excited about a titan since she first saw Reiner's titan form. The fact that he can fly is literally the coolest thing ever and she WILL fight you on that. lol
Now I'm imagining Gabi and Hange reacting to his titan form and it being a positive feedback loop until they both faint. xD
Marleyan researchers are l o s i n g t h e i r m i n d s . They can't get a sample of his spinal fluid for study f a s t e n o u g h . At this point in history, a flying titan is in fact unique, they do actually wonder if perhaps Falco is a new breed. Or even perhaps a new sub-breed of jaw or even just the proto form of a new breed, one that is in the process of forming.
Of course, Colt puts a limit on how much fluid they can take from Falco. He will not let them harm his little brother! 😡 This does lead to some friction, because a new breed of titan can mean a lot of things. But a flying one could be extremely useful!
Falco himself views his flying titan as one of the good things to come from his infection. Not only because bird fan, but also because flying is such a great feeling. 💖
Being shifters themselves, they are thankfully much more understanding of how difficult it is to grow up with the condition. Given that Falco is still so young, they are much more willing to give him a pass and let him finish developing.
Still, they do wish to put such a titan to use! So they do extract some of his spinal fluid in the hopes of creating more titans that can fly. Given how protective Colt is of his little brother, they do have a harder time getting fluid to study and cultivate into parasites.
But at least they have plenty of uh...
"willing" test subjects to subject to their cultivated parasites. 🤭
Thanks for the ask! This was really fun to go into detail on! ^^
