This isn’t a Date... But it’s so a Date
Peter Parker & Little Red Riding Hood
The words had repeated themselves in Ross's head since he'd bumped into Andy and she asked him if, in her words, he wanted to “hang out or something” at the event Halloween night. To be fair, she hadn't said it was a date but she also hadn't said it wasn't a date. Could anyone blame him for potentially thinking it was? Andromeda Noble didn't go around asking just anyone to hang out – or so he kind of thought, anyway. So it had to be something that she had asked him if he'd wanted to hang out at the Halloween Extravaganza. She'd also made no mention of whether it would involve hanging out with other people – no, “cool, meet Kali and I here” or “great, let's meet up with the whole team and go have fun”. Nope, everything pointed to it being just the two of them.
Unsure of what to wear for the event, Ross had gone through his chest until he'd found a spiderman graphic tee. Pairing that with his glasses, toy web shooters, and coercing Finley Fairchild into making him a realistic looking “Daily Bugle Employee” badge, as well as borrowing the Ravenclaw's muggle camera, the boy had decided on a very lazy Peter Parker costume. Which only really made sense to the dorky muggleborn/halfbloods who had knowledge of muggle comic books. Gaining high fives from whoever could recognize his costume, the boy had made his way towards the grounds where all the fun was starting.
He had to hand it to Hogwarts for going all out – everything looked epic, much like the carnivals he had visited as a child with his parents. Of course, everything was a lot more... magical. Flying decorations, enchanted jack-o-lanterns, haunted attractions with real life ghosts – Hogwarts really knew how to throw a Halloween party, and like every other year Ross was sure this would be the favored memory of the year. Of course, it had every bit to do with the redhead he was going to meet up with. The though alone caused sweat to break out on his palms and his stomach to tingle funny as though butterflies were just released within. Taking a few deep breaths, he willed himself to calm down before heading to the meeting spot – right by the dunk tank.
Of course it wasn't easy to ignore the call to but his skills as a starting beater to the test as his Potions professor sat upon the seat and called out to the students assembly to whack tempermental bludgers into the target. Seeing as Andy hadn't arrived yet, Ross stepped up to the plate and practiced swinging a bit before going for it. Three failed attempts had gone by when he had noticed Andy walk over in his peripheral vision. “Hey, I'll be ready in just a sec, lemme just – wow.” He paused and did a double take, dropping the bat to his side as he took in her costume. “Andy... You look –“ He wasn't able to finish the statement, because one of those bludgers came at him and knocked him in the shoulder, causing Ross to topple over and fall to the ground. Attempting to regain his cool and get back to his feet, a blush sprouted over the werewolf's cheeks. This was not how he'd wanted to start a sort-of-kinda-not-maybe-date with the girl he'd been crushing on for a while now. Rubbing at his shoulder, he sat upright and mumbled, “Well that was smooth...”
