👀 + how have your goals/dreams in life changed over time? do you see them changing in the future as well?

“Yeah, isn’t that natural? My goals change whenever I achieve something, if you want to look at it in a positive light. When I was a trainee, I wanted to debut, so after I did, I had to find something else to look forward to. Goals I haven’t achieved have changed too. They have to change as you change as a person, so I’m sure they’ll change for me again in the future.”

👀 + what do you think about the concept of role models, in general, and as it applies to you?

“It can be good to have someone to look up to, but you have to remember everyone is human. As an idol, I’m supposed to be a role model. I get that, and it’s not something I was purposefully signing up for when I was younger, but all celebrities have that sort of burden placed on them in a certain way and they choose to either destroy it or accept it or ride the line. I don’t think I’m a good person to look up to, though.”

👀 + in the idol industry, who do you consider your actual friends? what makes them friends over acquaintances?

“It’s not too long of a list. Sooyeon, Byul, Risol, Youngjoo, Wooshik, and Minhee qualify in different ways. I think they’d all be there for me and I’d be there for them if they needed me, maybe to differing levels and about different things, but still there, you know, without ulterior motives. I guess that’s the difference. You make a lot of acquaintances in this industry, but it’s hard to trust people.”

“i’ve become much more focused on putting myself and my own goals before those of my family over time. i don’t think i even really had goals at the start of my time in korea, so the fact that i even have a tentative plan for the future is crazy. i can’t say for sure they will change drastically, but i’m confident enough that growth will happen, so i’m sure there will be some slight changes, maybe as my immediate family expands.” 

what do you think about the concept of role models, in general, and as it applies to you? 

“role models are fine and good, but i think it can be dangerous to idolize someone to the extent that many people do. everyone is human and i think people forget that sometimes when imposing the role model title on someone. it’s an expectation that will always fail, unless you’re realistic about it. i don’t want to be one and i certainly didn’t have one that didn’t fall within the unattainable celebrity. 

what does your relationship with silas bring to your life? how is it similar to and/or different from your other relationships?

“my relationship with silas is nonexistent. he’s perfectly capable of being sweet —  truthfully, he was extremely attentive and affectionate. he challenged me a lot when we were together, and it made me better. even now, he still challenges me. i just don’t know if it’s necessarily in the best way anymore. and he’s made it abundantly clear he’s not mature enough to have any sort of relationship with me, so there’s that, too. i don’t think i act well around him, honestly, which is probably the biggest difference. i don’t like being so angry.”

I’M NOT REALLY A BIG fan of superhero movies or franchises, so i don’t know any of the characters well enough to make a choice. sorry. 

MY DEEPEST FANTASY WOULD PROBABLY have to be a threesome or something like that. it’s something that’s always piqued my interested, but i’ve never had a chance to actually do it, unfortunately. 

I WOULDN’T SAY UNDER APPRECIATED, especially as a leader, but i do feel like sometimes my vocals aren’t really appreciated as much as eunjae’s or taehyun’s, which is fine because they deserve as much praise as they get. i guess sometimes i wish that i got the same attention, but when you’re in a group that’s as multifaceted as decipher where we can all sing, it’s difficult for people to praise everyone, so they usually focus on the best singer.

👀 the top five most attractive idols to you?

“Let's talk about it this way. Have you ever seen Doyun ( @doyunfmd ) oppa on stage? How about off stage? Fuck, that man is GORGEOUS. He's breathtakingly handsome. He can do anything, wear anything and say whatever and probably still be attractive as hell. He sings well too. Tell me that ain't attractive and I'll fight you. There's also Hyeju ( @fmdhyeju ). If I were into girls, I'd date her. She's not only beautiful on the outside but also on the inside. She has a cute smile too which makes her look like a bear. Adorable, really. Taeyong ( @fmdtaeyong ) is attractive especially when he's off stage. When he's talking about music. There's just something really charming about him. Speaking of charms and all, probably Andy ( @fmdandy )? He's an asshole but he's handsome. I'm not going into details on why we broke up but let me tell you he's an attractive piece of shit. “not much. i try not to think too deeply about what other people think of me anyway. as long as i stay true to myself, i don’t care what people see when they look at me!” 

“the line is always such a fine line, isn’t it? that’s why everybody is such a sucker for a friends to lovers story. i think the atmosphere around a person becomes different when i become interested in someone romantically. it’s hard to explain, but the whole aura that they give off changes? describing it is difficult, but that kind of feeling just kind of clicks, and that’s how i know.” 

“i would like to hope that i could. after all those years as a trainee, i think i have enough skills to become a solo artist, but i’m not sure if i have the charm. that, and i don’t really want element to disband. just thinking about it makes me sad. if it does happen though, i think i’d like to stay in the music industry. just keep releasing music and as long as there’s one person that supports me, i think i’d like to continue doing it.”
