Filming for the second episode of We Got Married has begun! The second episode will focus on planning for the couples’ weddings which will take place next week. The couples’ ability to compromise and communicate will be the main challenge for this episode.
Note: The tasks under the cut are for participants and commentators. The points available for this week total 5 points for participants and 4 points for commentators on your points page. Please post all tasks you plan to complete for this week by Sunday, August 6 at 11:59PM EST in the tag #fmdwgm2
Additional Admin Note: Since a thread is not required this week, you’re encouraged to continue your threads from last week. Points for completing the missions in that thread are still available. This week’s tasks can be completed through OOC plotting, but if you would prefer, they may be worked out in-character in a thread.
Prompt: All couples will be planning their wedding this week, with a focus on five different aspects of the wedding planning process. Again, the show will be mostly unscripted save for occasional prompts and suggestions by the director. All wedding choices must stay within a reasonable budget for the production team and fit the time restraints of a week to two weeks between this episode’s filming and their wedding.
Missions: The couples will receive a shared mission card this week with the very simple prompt to come to an agreement on what they would like their wedding to look like for the five aspects listed below:
Wedding dress/tux
Menu
Decorations/flowers
Venue/location
Wedding rings
POINTS AVAILABLE:
FOR PARTICIPANTS:
Reminder: So that everyone can fully develop their first date threads, a thread between partners is optional this week and not worth points.
Total available points: 5 points
+ 2 points: Create an aesthetic moodboard or a pinterest/weheartit board for your muse’s personal ideal wedding. This is not bound by the show’s budget or the preference of their partner and will not be something aired on the show. This task is more focused on the development of your character’s desires and preferences. A self-para of 400 words or more will also suffice if it explores the same topics.
+2 points: Create an aesthetic moodboard or a pinterest/weheartit board for the wedding aesthetic your muse and their partner decide on. This may be completed through a post by each partner or one post worked on by both partners. Considerations like a reasonable budget and the restrictions of the show (the wedding must take place in Seoul or within a half hour’s trip of Seoul) should be noted.
+1 point: Complete first episode reflection interview (participant section only), which can be found here.

it would be a LIE to say that the idea of a wedding has never crossed his mind. marriage has been a recurring theme in his thoughts during his childhood, with a black and blue song shinhyuk lying in bed at night wondering why his mother married his father in the first place. he liked thinking of weddings as magical, as a union of two souls in love and harmony. did his parents have a wedding as magical as he imagined weddings to be? he found it so difficult to envision a beautiful betrothal when darkness is what it eventually becomes.
white. all he sees is WHITE—- the walls, the beddings, the cups of ice littering the nightstand, the snow collecting on the window sill, his mother’s face. his sunken cheeks have mirrored hers, mother and child falling ill to the stresses of life that seem to haunt their every motion. as she lies there, weak yet still smiling, he musters the courage to finally ask. ❛ why did you marry him? ❜
a shadow casts on his mother’s face, her frail hand resting against his. he can’t read the expression on her face; she’s smiling but there’s a different color to her eyes, a different shade he’s never seen before. ❛ people change, shinhyuk-ah. ❜ he watches her in silence, listening intently as her soft voice permeates through the quiet. ❛ the good man i knew and fell in love with disappeared. ❜ and then it’s clear to him—- the color in her eyes is LONGING, a longing for the man who had once made her feel like she could overcome the whole world. ❛ he was my first love. he made me feel things i had never felt before. i felt like a queen; he was my knight. he protected me. but unfortunately, he became the very thing he wanted to protect me against. ❜
❛ i’ve lived a life filled with fists and pain, shinhyuk, ❜ she continues, her gaze moving from his face to the ceiling, tears prickling her eyes. ❛ a part of me knew i’d always live with it; it won’t ever truly go away. ❜ finally, she looks back at him once more, weakly bringing her hand to her son’s face. ❛ i was never angry with him as he hit me. i was used to it. but the moment he struck you, i was filled with a rage that i had never felt before. that was when i had truly learned the meaning of anger. and shinhyuk, you have no idea how angry i am with MYSELF that i allowed him to hurt you. ❜
his mother’s fingers brush away the tears he doesn’t even realize have fallen.
❛ you are a good man. i have no doubt in my mind that you will make your bride happy, that you will treat them with the respect they deserve, that you will have a family that breaks away from the tradition of abuse in our blood. ❜ her hand drops, her skin so pale it almost blends with the sheets. ❛ how do you see your wedding, shinhyuk-ah? ❜
he pauses, deep in thought. weddings have been a recurring theme in his thoughts since his childhood, yes, but he hasn’t quite thought of it in terms of himself. did he even see himself getting married? with all the difficulties in life, with the lawsuit wearing him thin every chance it gets, with money money money being taken away as soon as he gets it.
an ideal wedding for song shinhyuk—- that’s a thought that never crosses his mind. but as he sits there on his mother’s bedside, with his hand in hers, his lips twitch into the smallest of smiles. ❛ i only have one requirement for the ideal wedding, mom. ❜
a person who loves him, all of him, for all that he does, for all he was, is, and will be. a person he can love with all his heart, a partner he can take care of and dedicate his life to.
that’s all he needs and WANTS for the perfect wedding.
an intimate ceremony and reception in san francisco, featuring a s’mores bar, a carefully curated playlist with too many slow songs, and ash serenading his partner with his vast repertoire of love ballads on the piano a few times too many once he’s tipsy.
Comfortable. That's something he wasn't as he sat down on the stool to answer questions again. The reasonings were ambiguous though if asked he'd probably answer a simple; Jia. Not because he didn't enjoy their first date, on the contrary. He really liked the time they had together. With the warm sand beneath their feet and the smell of ocean taking over the senses. How the cool waters engulfed their bodies when they decided to take a dip, the smile that painted his lips as he snuck his arms around her bare waist – radiant. It was beautiful. No, the uncomfortable feeling only truly set in when the date had ended and his mind frantically went over every single second of it to analyse how he would look on tv. Did he look nice? Sweet? Romantic enough to leave an impression? It made him fidget nervously behind the scenes. How would this impact his image? Jiyoung couldn't even get close to him then, constantly waving her off in the politest yet most nonchalant way he could muster. He had hoped it didn't come off as rude.
Fingers brushed through his hair as he waited for the for the sign that they were filming. The locks that fell messily passed his eyes were now dark, specially dyed back to it’s natural state just a few days after his first interview for the show. “This isn’t Show Me The Money, Jerome. This is We Got Married. You need to look handsome. Mature. Give the fans something they’ve longed for; a nice husband. We might as well start a new chapter on how they perceive you.” He had heard his manager say as he parted ways with her to follow his hairdresser. Jerome had just rolled his eyes at her words but when the pink had been replaced by a colour reminiscent of the coffee he poured that morning and the compliments flooded his Instagram after the first episode was released, he understood what she was saying. Which in part freaked him out royally.
His eyes gazed towards the ground as the camera rolled. dark waves hiding the look in his eyes. He needed a brief moment to push away that uncomfortable feeling to the back of his mind so his signature smirk could return to his lips, his stage presence making an appearance.
How did you feel when you found out who your virtual spouse would be?
With the question entering his ears, a look appeared on his face that showed him thinking about the words said. It took him back to the first time he met BC’s local mother as not that, but his own virtual wife. How his face had looked a little bit stunned at first but how he quickly masked that when they embraced as a greeting. His mind had been a bit more difficult to mask though, his whole plan of rebelling against his ceo and manager falling to pieces when he saw his beautiful senior.
"Ah, Jiyoung." He spoke under his breath, his tongue wetting his bottom lip. What to say? He can't be hundred percent honest but he can't lie either. After a moment of thought, he settled on an answer. "When I first saw her I was surprised, but felt very lucky." Lucky? Maybe. Maybe not. "She's actually really close to my most closest friend, Julien. So, I felt reassured." The natural flirtatiousness had left his voice for a moment, the feelings that were accompanying his words feeling odd. It was strange, conflicting. Part of him had gotten nervous at the fact that it was Jia, for many reasons. But deep down there was that feeling of reassurance that at least he was paired with a girl who was nice but definitely not interested. "And she’s been nothing but nice to me in the couple of years I’ve known her, which is... Hm. Let’s just say girls often are different around me. Different from what my noona is.” He said as his eyebrow jumped up when the word different left his lips. Ah, there was that natural flirtatiousness again, giving meanings to the words he spoke. “Maybe as a couple that’ll change. But we’ll see." What does that mean? The wink that followed the sentence accompanied with a light curl of the corner of his lips possibly answered this.
“We’ll see.”
What do you like most about your virtual spouse?
"I’d say her personality." The male spoke with a certain air of truth to his words. "I mean I've known her for a while now being BC Family and all that. But getting to know her in a date setting almost made my heart flutter." The words that left his lips prompted him to be a little bit extra. With a hand covering his heart he sucked in a bit of air through his teeth, dramatically clutching the black floral printed fabric that covered his torso. "Ah, right in here." The red tinted glasses that he wore almost slid from his nose when a hearty laugh escaped his body, his hand quickly moving from his chest to wave away his words. "No, no. I'm joking. I do like her though. You've all seen the episode, right? She followed me into the waters almost instantly. How can anyone not like her? But then again..” Small pause. “Any woman who allows me to get her wet is a woman to my heart." Was that a little innuendo? With the forming of this discreet smirk, it might as well be. He almost felt bad for his manager who now had to watch helplessly as Jerome spits his words. But what can you do? He was nervous. He gets a bit suggestive when he's nervous. It’s a defense. At least this time he wasn’t so obvious about it.
How are you feeling about your upcoming wedding?
Nervous. Anxious. Uncomfortable. "I’m excited." The male said as he wiped his clammy hands on his trousers, thankful the camera wouldn't pick it up. "It’s a new experience and seeing as I’m not one to get tied down to someone it’ll...” He halted his sentence for a moment, tilting his head a bit to the side. “It’ll be like a little taste of what could have been.” With his tongue sliding along the corner of his mouth, he wondered if the words he chose were the right ones. Could. He used a past tense word, indicating he already gave up on ever getting married for real. It was the truth but maybe he shouldn’t have admitted that. And in the way the sentence was structured, the underlying tone of him giving up against his will could be heard if you paid attention.
Paid close attention.
As the camera stopped rolling and he had combed a hand through the lose falling waves of dark brown hair, he looked around for the sign the interview was over. ‘That’s the end? Cool.” He got off the stool then, ready to find himself repeating this interview over and over again in his brain throughout the rest of the day - especially the end. Excited? Couldn’t be further away from the truth. But he won’t let it show. He’ll just try to be a good husband and let his nerves be carried away by the fact that this all isn’t real. And the fact he can act the way he wants to. Or, no. He’s married to Jiyoung. So he can’t.
“do i look okay?” miyoung asked, looking at the person behind the camera as she’s fretting over her tresses; it was still new for her to be in front of a camera by herself. she was still getting used to being in these situations, but worked to make sure she at least looked unbothered and put-together. the tired nod coming from the cameraman was all she was going to get, and miyoung cleared her throat before smiling sheepishly. “i’m sorry, you’ve probably heard too many of that today...” she trailed off, glancing at her manager before clearing her throat. “i’ll be quick, i promise.”
how did you feel when you found out who your virtual spouse would be?
there’s a genuine smile on miyoung’s face when the question is directed to her. “i felt really happy when i saw minhyuk oppa at the museum,” she replied, voice bright. “i was so anxious trying to figure out who my virtual husband would be, i was shaking that morning! but he’s a familiar face, so i felt much better. and while i didn’t know him well prior to filming, i hope to get to know him.” with a light, slightly nervous laugh, she can feel a light blush dusting her cheeks as she’s reminded of their date. “i was just worried that i’d be lacking because i haven’t gone on a date or anything since i moved to korea to become a trainee...” she trails off, feeling the gaze of her manager on her; maybe she was going into dangerous waters with her comments. “i... i forgot what it was like to spend time with someone, and the museum was fun,” she finished, hoping that’d be a good way to end it.
what do you like most about your virtual spouse?
"there’s a lot of things i like about minhyuk oppa,” miyoung began, nodding along with her words. “he’s a gentleman and he’s really nice. a lot of people think he’s unapproachable, but he’s really warm and means well. i think that’s what i like the most about him. minhyuk oppa comes off as the quiet type, but it’s just that he’s really thoughtful and chooses his words carefully. it was really nice going on that date with him, because we learned a lot about each other.” she all but gushes about her virtual spouse, which surprisingly has the two other people in the room with her looking quite pleased. clearing her throat, miyoung wrings her hands, laughing nervously. “ah, i think i sound like a lovesick schoolgirl, but i’m just really grateful to be paired with him.”
how are you feeling about your upcoming wedding?
“the wedding...” miyoung trails off, her cheeks still flushed. “it’s kind of funny to think that i’m getting married, even if it’s a virtual marriage with another celebrity. but i do feel a bit excited about the wedding, i think! we had a lot of similar ideas for our dream wedding. thinking about our wedding also helped us learn more about the other person, which felt really nice. we have a lot more in common than i expected, so it feels good to find someone else like that. anyway, i can’t wait for it. please look out for us!”
How did you feel when you found out who your virtual spouse would be?
“Eunae is someone I had met before, so I was relieved that I wasn’t meeting someone for the first time.” Ash couldn’t deny that much. Filming their first episode may have been a bit uncomfortable, but the possibility for it to be catastrophically disastrous would have increased. “I’m not the most extroverted person, so knowing her from around the company saved us from that awkward first meeting.” If his post-episode chat with CEO Kim had told him anything, it wasn’t exactly the height of romance anyway, but surely he would have had more to say if it had been worse. Ash had a role to play now, someone who was more loving toward his virtual wife and more enthusiastic about the show in general. It was another role on top of the many that BC expected of him. Instead of ending there, he pasted a wistful smile onto his lips. The acting lessons BC had put him through may not have been put to use in a drama like they’d been intended to be, but he could utilize them now to seem invested in the show. “Ah, will Eunae see this?” he asked bashfully, pointed toward the camera as if he didn’t know the editors would use anything they could get. “Ah, well, I was happy it was Eunae, actually. She’s not a label mate I knew as well as others and now I get to know her better. She’s very pretty and she’s also talented, so I’m glad she’s my wife. I hope we get to know each other better.” Nothing he’d said was untrue or outrageous, but Ash hoped the shy way he’d said it would give their CEO what he wanted.
What do you like most about your virtual spouse?
“I already said she’s pretty but looks aren’t that important to me.” Especially since this was entirely fake and it didn’t matter if he was attracted to his partner or if there was a real connection or not. Ash decided not to mention that, since it’d only be edited out and upset his CEO if word got to him that Ash wasn’t giving the editors an easy time. “She’s not too loud or crazy—or she doesn’t seem to be—so I don’t feel like I have to be. We have similar personalities in some ways, but we’re not too much of the same so that it feels like I’m marrying myself. I wouldn’t want that,” he scrunched up his nose in a way his fans had told him was cute. He didn’t know that he agreed, but he was willing to go to certain lengths to get a better reception to his appearance on the show. “Yeah, Eunae will be a much better wife than I would be. I’m happy.”
How are you feeling about your upcoming wedding?
“Excited, nervous, all of the above? Everyone feels mixed feelings about weddings, don’t they? But good mixed feelings.” In reality, Ash felt more like he was ready to get this over with and get something resembling free time in his schedule. “I’ve been to my share of weddings over the years, but I’ve never had one where I was the groom, obviously, so I’m ready to see what it’s like when it’s my day.”
His manager gave him a nod and he breathed a sigh of relief before standing, ready to be carted off to his next schedule.
